Adidas is notorious for using generic cookie-cutter kits as well... see the euros for examples.
I've been very much in favor of Puma kits, but people complain cause they're too "form fitting"
any of the other small brands, might make a better looking kit here and there, but the overall merchandise lineup is tiny, so then we'd complain about that.
#1 thing to remember... no kit supplier tells the team what colors they are going to wear. the designers come up with proposals and different patterns, and then get approval from their client (the team).
in conclusion:
if you hate the colors chosen- that's a City Group decision.
if you hate the pattern/material/cut- that's a Nike issue
