Champions League ban?

No CL revenue = no budget for new players.
We only signed one player this Summer (Mahrez), all we need to do is make sure we get key players to sign up to their contract offers and sign a Fernandinho long-term replacement this Summer and we'd be fine not signing anyone the year after. And you never know if someone would run down their contract somewhere and come to us on a free.

Ok. No CL revenue = no Dinho replacement.

Be able to concentrate on a domestic treble which has never been done before
Be able to concentrate on getting as close to 114 points as possible
Will only play a maximum of 50 games in the season so players should have no problems with fatigue and should be raring to go the following season when we're back in it
We won't have to endure the group stages for a year which are often worse for intensity and atmosphere (and even crowd size) than early round League Cup games against lower league opposition
I personally will be able to stay in my own seat for all games (i'm moved in the CL)

They are the positives i can think of, i bet you other people will be able to match that with the same number of different ones.
We are doing perfectly fine in all of those areas as it is. We are on course to get more points than last year, into the latter stages of the league cup etc. Having no CL won't help us getting beat by Wigan in Jan when we dont have any CL games for 2 months. Never mind early round atmosphere in the CL, we won't have any kind of atmosphere if we aren't in it. It was rocking before that liverpool game last year and when Jesus scored it went absolutely crazy and we nearly pulled of a miracle bar the ref screwing us. If we made it to a CL final it would be a huge boost to the club and go a long way to helping justify expanding the stadium further.

More than anything though, we have the best manager in the world, the best players in the world, the best owner in the world, all of who highly value the CL and see that as just as important, if not more important than the PL / LC and FA Cup. If the majority of people think a few years of no CL, the impact financially and to sponsors, the horrendous pr that comes with a ban and the label of cheating the books, the impact to manager, players and owners etc doesn't outweigh us getting a couple of points closer to 114, impacting on us getting beat by wigan (though it didn't), not having to endure a few group games with poor atmosphere, then there is no hope for us.

I know people will put a positive spin on it and i totally get the dislike of all things uefa, but for me there is a far bigger picture that would have a really negative impact on the club that comes with any ban.

I would have thought when the commercial agreement was wrapped up as 'full and final settlement' all issues up to that point would have been included. Whether or not it also included anything not known about at that time would be the only point that could allow UEFA to reopen the agreement or start a fresh claim against the club. However, due to the size of the original fine (though abated by two thirds as a consequence of future compliance), the legal team and club management should surely have made the agreement fully watertight for all matters relating to FFP at that point in time. Failure to do so would surely make some organisations start looking at their PL insurance.
Also, by virtue of the fine reducing because of future compliance (the 'pinch') does that not indicate that UEFA closed the case on the historical FFP investigation?

I am astonished at some of the stuff written in this thread.

For positives about not being in the Champions League maybe ask the owner then the manager, and the players. The answer would be universal. FUCK ALL.

I get that UEFA are a bunch of cnuts and have on a number of occasions has our pants down, but so have the FA and the Premier League, yet the domestic competitions seem to be exempt from the silly attitude to the Champions league that is evident.

Until City win the Champions League those history clubs will not be quietened and rightly so. The Champions league is the biggest club competition on the planet. To be kicked out of it for a year would be nothing other than damaging to our club and our players careers.

What a load of bollocks honestly!

Players would probably leave if we were banned from the CL, it means more to them than most of us fans

We won't get banned. They'll keep this threat open for as long as possible, hoping to derail our efforts and create uncertainty in the minds of current players, management and potential new signings and those in our youth system, and especially all their agents.

Then they'll either stick us with a paltry fine that's not worth going to court over due to costs and damage to public image, or a transfer ban, or nothing.
