Champions League Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid

Sorry to reveal the true level of my daftness; but do we already know it will be BM against RM in one of the semi's? Couldn't it be BM against Barca?

Cheers Nicholas!
I thought any of the four semifinal teams could end up laying each other... well... excpet themselves that is. :)

Real Madrid are far better individually, but it will be a close couple of games.

I don't feel that way, better squad by far but first 11?

Neur, Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Robben, Ribery, Gomez are all worthy of a start for RM and that is 6 players.

...No.

Casillas > Neuer
Ramos > Lahm
Ronaldo > Robben
Di Maria > Ribery
Benzema/Higuain > Gomez

Although Schweinsteigger is unrivaled to anyone. Bayern have a relatively easy set of fixtures to get where they are now and unlike Real they have really struggled in the league campaign at times. Their base seems to be aging this year and aging quickly. They have this distinct Chelsea of 09 feel to them. Obviously they are smart, bringing in Shaqiri and more but this Bayern team would lose by 3 goals over 2 legs. Madrid's counter is devastating.

Matter of opinion but Di Maria is certainly not better than Ribery.

I don't think Casillas is as good as people make him to be these days..

Anyway;

Ribery >> Di Maria
Gome >> Higuain/Benzema

What are you talking about? Aging? The oldest average age they were fielding this year was in the Manchester City match... with Tymo, Olic and Butt playing... - they had an average age of 26.27 then...

They played the round of last 16th with a team that had an average age of 24.36 - that went up to 24,45 on Wednesday as Neuer turned 26...

The oldest in the team are Lahm, Robben and Ribery with 28 - Gomez and Neuer are 26, Gustavo 24, Boateng and Badstuber 23, Müller and Kroos 22 and Alaba 19. If Schweinsteiger starts - he is 27 - the average age slightly rises a little...

It is actually the youngest Bayern team since somewhen starting the 70s. The team we won the CL with in 2001 had an average age of about 29.

An easy schedule - with the group of death, the quarter final against the team that threw out Manchester United...

That Real Madrid matches will be something real special. It is the most classical match in European Club Matches - has been played 18 times until now - more than any other European match. And I guess it is the only opponent against which the statistics are not positive for Real.

Bayern won 10, drew 2 and only lost 6 of the matches.

The last duel was in 2007 in the round of the last 16. Bayern played 2:3 in Madrid and won 2:1 at home. Bayern then lost against AC Milan in the quarter finals that won the CL that year.

Real Madrid
Iker Casillas - Miguel Torres - Iván Helguera - Fabio Cannavaro - Roberto Carlos - Fernando Gago - Guti - David Beckham - Gonzalo Higuain - Raúl - Ruud van Nistelrooy

Bayern Munich
Oliver Kahn - Willy Sagnol - Lucio - Daniel van Buyten - Philipp Lahm - Owen Hargreaves - Martín Demichelis - Mark van Bommel - Bastian Schweinsteiger - Lukas Podolski - Roy Makaay

There is not much left in both teams. At Real Madrid only Casillas, Higuain and Sergio Ramos, who took part in the second match - at Bayern Lahm and Schweinsteiger (van Buyten is still injured and won't play).

And - Bayern always has been underdogs in all of this matches - and if you look at the teams they are less underdogs in this year than they have been in the matches before.

In a big European knockout game Robben > Ronaldo any day. Which is funny when you think Madrid sold him when they a desperate to do well in Europe.
