Told you not to write us off. We've always been better at handling Barca than the other English teams. It wasn't pretty but it worked as intended. Being ahead is great but preventing the away goal is what I'm most glad about. If we can nick another one at theirs they'll suddenly be in a very difficult position.

It only worked because you rode your luck pal..

You have to realise barca wernt on their game and could of bagged 6..

Nothing with luck there..

Now that is how you defend against Barcelona

They still got through it 25 times.

Yes but getting through isn't scoring a goal. Neither is hitting the woodwork or making the keeper make a save. You have to be clinical in front of goal to be effective playing the way Barca play. Last night they weren't (and they haven't been on many occasions this season, even Pep has lamented it).

Also, what do you mean when you say they "got through it 25 times"? Just as your stat earlier about shots/shot on goal i'm not sure of it's relevance when the scoreline finished as it did. If Barca were that deserving of winning the match they'd have put the ball in the back of that net at least once.

I'll use a City example. At Sunderland earlier this season we absolutely hammered them. Probably similar stats to last night - but we didn't score. Simple as that - and by virtue of that, we didn't deserve to win.

If Barca had had a perfectly good goal ruled out, or if they had a few nailed on penalty shouts not given, or any other clear error leading to them not scoring, I'd be more inclined to go with the the universal outcry about the win being unjust. As it stands, they simply didn't score ergo Chelsea deserved their win.

Universal outcry about the result being unjust?
Chelsea defended in numbers; made the most of their 1 real opportunity; Barca didn't. Nothing unjust about that 1-0.
Fabregas very disappointing. Barca not much of a threat apart from Messi, who was blocked out for the most part. I don't fancy their chances against Real Madrid this weekend unless they improve considerably.
Well done Chelsea. Hard part is yet to come though.

The one thing you should always do in the CL is not concede the away goal
After that anything is possible

I'm not disputing that, they got what they wanted a win..

But an out of sorts barca battered them for 90 mins and and created chance after chance..

It was just poor finishing why they didnt get anything out of it.
