Looking at the UEFA coeficients:

I worked out that the Rags' group has 2nd highest coefficient overall, ours is 5th out of 8.This is mainly down to them having highest coefficient overall.

Rags opponents are collectively 7th out of the 8 groups. Bayern's are 4th.

Our opponents are collectively 5th out of the 8 groups, Basel's are 2nd.

Which goes to show that we've got a medium group, Rags have a high coefficient group but have drawn collectively the 2nd worst group of teams and they are so far ahead of their opponents that they may as well put them through to the next stage already.

Oh, and Chelsea's group have collectively the best coefficient.

You can't go by that though as their coefficients are purely on European performances where the Europa League and the CL are regarded as equal.

Much better to go by the average ECI of each group and I'd guess ours would be 1st or 2nd....if anyone has the time to add them up!

Re: Champions League draw continued

No suprises that Scum get a bye and we get the nearest thing in this Draw to a "Group of Death".

9 points should be enough and we will get those points.

As for Napoli; the wife is from around there and it isn't as bad as what it's been painted.

Re: Predict OUR CL results

Results rather than scores (as per thread title)

;-)

Napoli - two wins
Villareal - home win, away draw
Bayern sshhh - home draw, away defeat

Considering the normal qualification mark is 10 points, those results should do us nicely.

Re: Champions League draw continued

Bayern is the favourite team in the group.
They have seven or eight national players of Germany.
Germany is togehter with spain the best nation of the world.
It will be hard to Man city to win against Bayern Munich.

Bayern ist one of the favourite teams in the Champions-League (final in 2010)

Re: Predict OUR CL results

Bayern 2-1 City
City 3-1 Bayern
Villareal 1-3 City
City 2-0 Villareal
Napoli 2-2
City 4-3 Napoli

Thats what happens when you play in the Champions League every year, and end up in 2 finals in last 3 years. You receive the easier draw.

officially, that's not how it works. Officially, they had every chance we did to play Villarreal or Napoli or Dortmund.

Officially it is, keeps them in pot 1, keeps away from Barca, Real, Inter etc.
Stop trying to be clever. You understood his point.

Unless you didn't in which case you're being thick.
