newb question, but if we end up in either 2nd or 1st place, what team do we face from what group? or is it another random drawing? :P

ending up 2nd place would be a disgrace , 50% of chances to get barca or real madrid and go out.

Wow, you really dont have a clue!!
This would be how id compare them man to man.....

Neur vs Hart - Draw
Rafinha vs Richards - Richards
Kompany vs Badstuber - Kompany
Lescott vs Boateng - Draw maybe, Boateng looked ok at CB imo
Lahm vs Kolarov/Clichy - Lahm
De jong/Barry vs Gustavo - De jong/Barry
Yaya vs the vastly over rated schweinsteiger - Yaya
Silva vs Robben - Draw, at a push id pick Silva because he can truly run games
Muller vs Aguero - Aguero
Ribery vs Nasri - Nasri, Robben most over rated player of all time
Dzeko vs Gomez - Dzeko

Thats how i judged it without being bias.

Posted this in the wrong thread initially.

Just looking at each club's record last season.

Bayern were very strong at home but their away record against the top half of the Bundesliga was not very good. In Europe they also lost at Roma but won at Inter. Anything other than a defeat there would be a good result but I'd be hopeful of beating them at ours. so I'd go for 0 points away and 3 at home.

Villareal didn't manage a home win against any of the 3 teams that finished above them and their domestic away record was very poor. In the Europa League they got wins at Bayer Leverkusen & FC Twente but got hammered at Porto. So I'd say at least 1 point there and 3 at ours.

Napoli had a good home record but couldn't beat any of the other teams in the Serie A top four. Their away record was good relative to other Serie A teams but I don't think Italian clubs travel very well. It was very poor in the Europa League with only a win at Elfsborg in the play-off round. So again I'd go for 1 away and 3 at home.

So I'd see 11 points as a realistic target. Maybe 10 if we slip up away at Villareal or Napoli. That should be enough to get us into the last 16. The game in Munich could well be the one that decides the places.

disgrace? what the fuck are you on?

Firstly, 3/7 groups have other English teams. So that already isn't 50%. Secondly Arsenal didn't even finish top of their group last year, so there is a fair chance only 2 of our potential 7 opponents will be ruled out.

Thirdly whether you like it or not City have the toughest group and it will be a big challenge regardless of what it looks like on paper.

Fourthly you have to play the likes of Barca or Real eventually even if you get a nicer draw in the last 16 and get through, and not only that but what guarantees that Barca will finish ahead of Milan or Madrid ahead of Lyon, you don't know that.

Go back to fucking Inter.

Let's do this:

Neuer-£16m.
Rafinha-£4.8m.
Boateng-£12m.
Badstuber-HG.
Lahm-HG.
Schweinsteiger-HG.
Gustavo-£13.25m.
Ribery-£22m.
Robben-£22m.
Muller-HG.
Gomez-£30m.

City:

Hart-£750k.
Richards-HG.
Kompany-£6m.
Lescott-£24m.
Clichy-£7m.
Barry-£12m.
Yaya-£19.5m.
Silva-£24m.
Aguero-£38m.
Nasri-£24m.
Dzeko-£26m.

So Bayern comes to about £120m, not cheap for an established club with years at the top and the time to develop a top class academy etc.

City comes to £181m give or take, so £61m worse for our team in under 3 years since we took over, without the time at the top to develop a world class academy and be an established name through decades of success, not bad eh?

how about looking back pre-our takeover, and seeing what Bayern were still buying?

Ribery was bought before the takeover, Luca Toni, Ze Roberto, Klose, Sosa, Marcell Jansen, Breno, Lucio, Van Buyten, Demichelis, Van Bommel, Salihamidzic, Makaay, Pizarro, Lizarazu, Jose Paolo Guerrero, Kuffour(bought from Torino), Torsten Frings, Ballack, Sagnol, Elber, Kovac, Paulo Sergio, Jancker, Effenberg, Scholl, Tarnat, Linke, Thiam, Kahn, Jeremies, Deisler, Podolski, Braafheid, Tymoschuk, Pranjic, Olic etc.

Ironically they did produce Hummels and then got rid of him to Dortmund...

Maybe you should shut up about us buying teams to put together, even that great team full of Germans from the late 90s was cobbled together from other clubs.

I've come to the conclusion that (ironically) Bayern Munchen really are the rags of Germany and therefore I despise them and will enjoy rubbing their Teutonic noses in it.

Things in common..

Play in red.
Think that every player they have is homegrown and if not would play for them for nothing.
Don't like it when other clubs spend money and complain to UEFA.
Overrate all their own players and underrate the opposition.
Have a strange idea of what "history" is and use the word at the earliest opportunity.

In fact you can add Liverpool and Arsenal to the same list.

I'm glad actually because we normally get on well with European opposition fans. About time there was some genuine rivalry and mutual dislike.
