PSG is recency bias. They’re very inconsistent. They’re probably the best right now but not by much. Best side ever? Give me a break.

The City teams of 17/18 and 18/19 were both better than the Treble winners, IMHO.

Even the most neutral observers would admit Arsenal have been assisted in this season’s win with anti football tactics, dubious set pieces & a fair amount of outright cheating.
The premier league as a spectacle has suffered as a result.
With FFP/PSR limiting spend the last thing PL is to encourage borefest negative tactics. Hopefully next season officials will stamp out the Arsenal set piece tactics
You only have to look at Barcalona’s rumoured targets and spend this summer to see how PSR will limit the number of genuine world class players coming to the PL if I was scudamore I would be more interested in how the PL tackle this than passing the title around

Scudamore doesn’t have anything to do with the PL nowadays.
 
I didn't watch the match and all I've seen is the complete penalty shoot out and 4 minutes of highlights. I was sick of the fawning over the most odious club representing the most favoured region in the country, so I really wanted PSG to win and do our country a massive favour. I was convinced they would, I had been relieved we hadn't had to play PSG this season and they had crushed Chelsea 8-2 and then beaten Liverpool 4-0 on aggregate, whereas Arsenal hadn't beaten us in 3 attempts and hadn't scored a goal against the scousers in 2.

And from what I can gather, it went almost to my expectations, though Arsenal did take an early lead. The match stats show that either PSG are quite simply miles better that Arsenal or that Arsenal just can't play proper football for long. Where they came unstuck also though was in failing to realise that European refs might just ref to the rules! This meant the gooners and their fans had the astonishing experience of conceding a penalty for a foul, and then of seeing the unbeatable Raya fish it out of the back of the net.

That seems to have been the end of their hopes though this was not confirmed for some time. PSG looked dangerously comfortable taking penalties and beat the unbeatable Raya with 4, whereas the gooners looked rather jittery being as advanced as 12 yards from goal and made an awful mess of 2 of theirs. We all have to sympathise with the unfortunate Gabriel who had never taken a pen before and seemed thrown by the idea that he had to kick the ball in the area without having a defender to cling to for balance.
Exit Arsenal.

Still their hordes of sycophants in the press can be proud of their brave displays and their fans can celebrate a first PL title since 2004. Superb and no-one will ever ask how the best team ever didn't doe the quadruple for Piers but didn't bottle any either!

He was until 2018 having said in a 2016 interview it was the strategic plan of the PL to have a new name on the trophy in every six-year period.
How could they facilitate or influence that strategically?
Wait till Pep writes his book it will reveal what we’ve had to endure over his 10 year tenure as the the so called cartel tried in vain to maintain the status quo

Yes; the latter won the ultimate test (the CL; not much gets past me) and became only the second English team to win the treble, but the 17/18 team were an utter joy to watch. The 22/23 side simply had a dogged determination not to lose. Although, IIRC, the first half of that season was so-so.. It was in the new year that they really took off.

I agree the Centurions were one of the best football teams to watch ever. If they played the treble winners they would lose though :-)

Its not controversial at all, cup games are a flip of a coin and are nice to win but the recent wins of palace and wigan in recent years show that, hell even our cup win this year took a freak deflection in the semi to get us to the final thats how fragile they are, the league is the bread and butter, what that centurions team did had never been done for, that level of consistency was unbelievable and not only that it was excellent football to boot.

They were scared to to toe to toe with the Parisians so how can they claim to be the superior team? They played like how you imagine a lower league team would at the Etihad in the early rounds of the FA Cup.

Chelsea did the same thing against Barcelona and Bayern in 2012 but at least they won.

I am just not a fan of these teams who sit back trying to claim superiority. Fair enough if you win, but you still weren't superior as by sitting back and defending for your lives you concede that the opposition has more about them and you must stifle them and hope for a lucky break.

Wasn’t it arteta who said only one team wanted to play football on one of their defeats this season or am I getting mixed up with someone else.
 
Not read back and have only scanned the media. So, just basing things on the media. No mention of those Arsenal kick offs. They perfectly encapsulated Arsenals stick it in the mixture/Hail Mary nature of their football. Embarrassing stuff!! Not sure even Pulis stooped to those depths of Neanderthal football
