Ric Sports.Who’s got it next season Ric?
The City teams of 17/18 and 18/19 were both better than the Treble winners, IMHO.“They’re the best team the World’s ever seen,” says Graham of City. “And we’ve seen in the past at Manchester City and at other clubs as well, just spending money doesn’t necessarily get you the best team. It might get you the best team this season, but not the best team in the world for six seasons in a row, or longer. Pep is the best coach on the planet. On the pitch, they are incredible to watch.”
“They are the best side of all time. There is no argument about that. Manchester City don’t even have Lionel Messi and they’re still easily the best. It’s a criminally underrated team.”
Ian Graham (Director of Research at Liverpool F.C.)
PSG is recency bias. They’re very inconsistent. They’re probably the best right now but not by much. Best side ever? Give me a break.
My opinion…
1. Barca 2011
2. Bayern 2014
3. City 2023
4. Real Madrid 2014
5. Brazil 1970
And yet, we never hear that mentioned by our "wonderful" media.Odd isnt it how its only one set of fans that have trouble with tickets
Scudamore doesn’t have anything to do with the PL nowadays. You reap what you sow, scudamore’s vision is the PL has a new winner every 6 years, they don’t want the dominance of one team in other European leagues.
Even the most neutral observers would admit Arsenal have been assisted in this season’s win with anti football tactics, dubious set pieces & a fair amount of outright cheating.
The premier league as a spectacle has suffered as a result.
With FFP/PSR limiting spend the last thing PL is to encourage borefest negative tactics. Hopefully next season officials will stamp out the Arsenal set piece tactics
You only have to look at Barcalona’s rumoured targets and spend this summer to see how PSR will limit the number of genuine world class players coming to the PL if I was scudamore I would be more interested in how the PL tackle this than passing the title around
He was until 2018 having said in a 2016 interview it was the strategic plan of the PL to have a new name on the trophy in every six-year period.Scudamore doesn’t have anything to do with the PL nowadays.
I agree the Centurions were one of the best football teams to watch ever. If they played the treble winners they would lose though :-)Going to be controversial here (yeah, I know; very unlike me!). But if I was to pick the better team to watch, and not necessarily the better team results wise, between the Centurions and the Treble team, I think I'd go for the former. Yes; the latter won the ultimate test (the CL; not much gets past me) and became only the second English team to win the treble, but the 17/18 team were an utter joy to watch. The 22/23 side simply had a dogged determination not to lose. Although, IIRC, the first half of that season was so-so.. It was in the new year that they really took off.
Its not controversial at all, cup games are a flip of a coin and are nice to win but the recent wins of palace and wigan in recent years show that, hell even our cup win this year took a freak deflection in the semi to get us to the final thats how fragile they are, the league is the bread and butter, what that centurions team did had never been done for, that level of consistency was unbelievable and not only that it was excellent football to boot.Going to be controversial here (yeah, I know; very unlike me!). Wasn’t it arteta who said only one team wanted to play football on one of their defeats this season or am I getting mixed up with someone else.Pretty baffling people are making out they played really well. Can't fault their organisation, of course - from a setting up perspective, they were superb at denying space and chances. But if you have to park the bus (excuse the crude term) in a CL Final, how can you really say you're better than the opposition? PSG were toothless for a lot of the game but it's hard to play against low blocks and Arsenal were the ones doing the spoiling tactics and ruining the game.
They were scared to to toe to toe with the Parisians so how can they claim to be the superior team? They played like how you imagine a lower league team would at the Etihad in the early rounds of the FA Cup.
Chelsea did the same thing against Barcelona and Bayern in 2012 but at least they won.
I am just not a fan of these teams who sit back trying to claim superiority. Fair enough if you win, but you still weren't superior as by sitting back and defending for your lives you concede that the opposition has more about them and you must stifle them and hope for a lucky break.
Superb shithousery from the ref.
Over a full season yes, but the treble team from February to May was the best we've ever had, destroyed everyone. The City teams of 17/18 and 18/19 were both better than the Treble winners, IMHO.
