Champions League Final | Post-Match Thread

It doesn't seem to work like that. We wrapped up title weeks ago and rested until champs league final with no benefit. We do not get exhausted playing 3 games a week. We played 3 games a week and won 21 games in a row in winter.

Only couch potatoes think resting is a good idea.
I do belive you can underplay, rest is not always good. Sometimes you need rhythm.

i find it annoying that so many City fans have turned against Sterling. His form has slipped because he's no longer an automatic starter. He was no better or worse than any other City player today.

Yep. Sterling wasn’t the problem. Set up was.

Where were Walker and Stones. Out of position completely. Dias ran out of position covering them.
Zinchenko came in to the centre to cover Havertz and let him get away from him.
The 4 backs were all culpable but blaming Zinchenko for the goal is not correct.
Yep, if anything it was Walker being caught out of position that put the whole defence under pressure, just that Zinch was the guy on the end of it.

Absolute nonsense.

There is no shame whatsoever in these same Blues tonight, who have seen this club grow from strength to strength, see their potential, only to see them squander it on the big stage, fall at the final hurdle.

Nobody is upset that "City lost", they're upset and disappointed at HOW we lost; no guile, no passion, no determination. Something the likes of Horlock, Goater, Dickov and Morrison et al would have scorned at. Losing via commitment and attribution is one thing. Losing via lack of intensity and co-ordination is another. There was just "nothing" tonight. THAT is what hurts.

This exactly, we don't think we have a right too win every game, however when the manager doesn't play your strongest team in a champions league final it's gonna make fans think what if? And also piss them off

Fairly standard. I prefer watching your team to any other because of your ability to pass your way through the opposition rather than the hoofball of most, but when the opposition is scared enough, and shameless enough to spend much of the game not even trying to stop you until you're in their 3rd with 10 defenders to beat it's pretty tough, and if they nick it they've got acres of space and maybe three defenders to beat. As soon a Chelsea beat RM I knew you'd have to score a couple early on for the final to be a decent spectacle.

Exactly, it was all about fine margins. I still think the block on KDB was a red too, that could have made a difference.
Which one? The one with Rüdiger?. Didn‘t they both run accidentally in each other?

We lacked a leader in the middle of the park , Dinho was a big miss even Rodri leads by example and nullifies most opponents , Bernardo and Gundo are superb players but dont have that little extra to "dig in" when the opposition are dominating the ball. A lack of a naturally defensive midfielder was the main reason for our defeat and Pep made that decision , afraid he got it wrong

we lacked a middle of the park.

Also feel sorry for the players who played so well against PSG.

Played out of this world in both legs only for Pep to not trust them in the final.

He's going to have to win their trust back after tonight's shitshow.

He lacks the fight to earn his spot back. His head has dropped and he looks like he has been mentally affected by it and his standards have significantly dropped. Dropped lower than what I would class as a dip in form. We cannot have passangers in this team on the kind of wages he demands. Just like Sergio and injuries. Nothing personal. They just cannot cut it anymore at top level.
