Champions League Final | Post-Match Thread

Having reflected on things over the last few days, I'll give you one thought that struck me afterwards. In the past we have felt like interlopers in European football and frequent run-ins with UEFA along with booing of the anthem have reinforced this. However, the build-up to Saturday night, City on arguably the biggest stage in world football, it felt like we had arrived, like we belonged. The result was a tough one to take, of course, but I am convinced we will be back and next time there will be less 'rabbit in the headlights' and more grit because we do now belong and it is our destiny (if that isn't too prosaic).

I'm not over it, but I am feeling better about it.

Over a week on.

Still pissed off.

The minute that team got named, I knew we'd lost. It's the avoidability of it all and our helplessness as fans knowing that it was a fatal mistake which makes the anger so hard to dissipate.

He lost it when he played with 9 changes in FACup -gave them some belief/momentum added to that the league game then no DM in final-perspective league title

Pep played 11 players who were capable of winning the game, and probably should have won, but for whatever reason we were below par, we didnt play as well as we should on the night and I am as gutted as anyone, but to say this was all Peps fault is poor. If we had played with a DM then we might have won who knows, if we had done this and done that who knows, wecould have got hammered who knows. The culture is that when we get beat in Europe its Peps fault. There were 11 players on the field each one of them great players in there own right, who was our best player on the night, i cannot name one, why did this happen I dont know, were the celebrations the week before a factor, i dont know, but what I will say is that I dont blame Pep, we just didnt perform and its hard to take but Football.

Personally I think the occasion got to them,as finals go I would rate the loss to Wigan far worse, took a long time to get over that one,as for the champions league final, yes I was disappointed but wasn’t gutted, which is unusual for me,perhaps it was all the rigmarole of getting tests waiting for the last minuite results, filling in passenger locator forms etc,bar the result I enjoyed the whole experience and hopefully it won’t be too long before the trophy is on the sideboard

I agree that it was nerves. But this one urt me ten times more than the Wigan game because of it's magnitude, the effort and expense I'd gone to and the potential glory within touching distance.

Wigan had the silver lining of the Mancini sacking for me.
