From that formation It seems Pep does not want to go penalties, he probably saw things in the Everton game that he liked and wanted to use them, probably Foden in the middle so left wing was free for Sterling

Playing Raz shifts Foden into the centre where his mobility will cause issues for their defenders. It also pushes their fullbacks a little deeper, stopping them from exploiting the space behind our fullbacks. Imagine playing against Bernardo, Gundogan, KDB and Foden with Mahrez and Raz on the wings!

Is Foden playing? I thought he was on loan somewhere getting some playing time?

In fairness you have probably said that pre match in every game in Europe which we subsequently lost. This year a more solid City under Pep got to a semi and then the final by not playing Russian roulette for once, then he changes it for the final. We could still win doesn’t make the decision any less baffling.

Personally I would be pretty pissed if I were one of the players that contributed to getting us here seeing an out of form player stood on the pitch.

Anyhow let’s hope it turns out well plenty of quality on that pitch, no reason why we can’t win it.

My views also, but we should remember also one thing: we are NOT in everyday practices! And Guardiola IS!
So maybe Sterling is on a great form or this system he used here worked magnificently in practices. Who knows. We will see i guess :)

That’s a bold selection by Pep, I think he is hoping we will push them back with width and stop their full backs getting forward. Gundo as dm will hopefully give us control with Playing due to the risks Kev takes. Sterling is make or break for him I think
