Champions League Games 11/12 October '22

Take it the Red Bull teams are ok in the same comp and therefore facing each other. So take it if Girona or Lomel, unlikely granted, were to be in the champions league there would be no issue on that front? Or is it a different set up
I don't think Red Bull are involved in the ownership structure of Salzburg anymore

Edit. Just checked and Red Bull own both but UEFA were happy that Red Bull don't influence the clubs significantly so it's OK. Not sure they would give CFG teams the same treatment...

Congratulations Celtic. It’s a champions league record. 7 consecutive home defeats .
I wonder how the head in the sand Scottish media are going to downplay the ‘ invincibles ‘ latest humiliation.

Might as well be celtic

How can that be a red for Milan. Sure he was pulling him back but Mount stayed strong and got a shot away which the keeper saved so why a red as was not denying a goal scoring opportunity as he forced a save

Because Tomori made no attempt to play the ball. If he had tackled and missed, it would have been a pen and a yellow, but he pulled him back so unfortunately once the ref gives the pen he has no choice but to give the red too.

Yes that’s a penalty but he didn’t deny him the goal scoring opportunity as he still got a shot off so it’s just a penalty and a yellow card.

It would have been exactly what you said if Tomori had at least made an attempt to get the ball. He didn't, so if once the pen is given, the red is unfortunately what he has to give. I say unfortunate because it did ruin the game, a game that was shaping up to be a very good battle.

It’s not poor refereeing?

Denial of a goalscoring opportunity without making an attempt to win the ball is a red card offence. Literally black and white in the rules.

Tomori pulled him back not just once, but several times and stopped him getting to the ball cleanly to shoot. Clear DOGSO

It’s actually very good refereeing because most referees would incorrectly punish Mount for not going down under the challenge.

Maybe some of you are so used to bad refereeing in this country you don’t recognise good decisions when they are made.

I agree with this, because it's refreshing to see a player not punished for trying to stay on their feet. Most players would have flopped to the ground as soon as they felt Tomori's touch.

Actually it's very telling if users think Tomori didn't take an influence on Mount's shot quality. It's about basic physics.
You should watch your golf shot when someone pulls your shoulder back just a very tiny bit. In our case, the football was even moving on and Mount just managed to get his tip to the ball.

Tomori tried to be smart and fuck up Mount's proper finish, risking just a yellow (so what?) and have a chance to get the penalty saved. The deal is just too good - that's why it must be red if we don't want to see those laughable fouls instead of proper and honest football.

Btw, the same no nonsense reffing should finally go for cheating (like Neymar 10 times per match) or all sorts of wrestling at corner kicks.

Napoli look like a team to watch out for this season. Really played well in the group stages.

1-0 up against Ajax
