Champions League Games | 16/17/18 Sept '24

Nothing, just that you can win all your games 1-0 and it doesn't matter how many Bayern etc score.

Anyway Bayern didn't look brilliant at the back, they were playing a garbage team as well.
Not many are going to go for 1 nils..
It's not a 38 game season where you can make points up.
Teams who want to win the cup are going to go for it.
If you want to win it you ain't putting 10 behind the ball like arsenal at the Etihad.

Stuttgart letdown almost entirely by horrific keeping.
He is on loan from Bayern. Somewhen had the idea to get him some years ago and due to Neuer's long keeper life he was first loaned to Monaco and now to Stuttgart. I actually would prefer to get another one whenever Neuer retires...

About the goals - goal difference counts as all teams will be put in one schedule at the end. If there is e.g. place 4 to 9 with e.g. 18 points the ones with the best goal difference to not have to go to the extra round. And setting after the "first stage" depends on the goal difference, too.

Did anyone hear in the 1st half of the Milan/Dippers game the commentator saying this was the highest profile match this week?

Err - 3rd in PL vs 3rd in Serie A. How about City vs Inter which is Champs of PL vs Champs of Serie A?!!?
Maybe you’ll start to see and understand how certain teams are reported on,it’s as if every team bar the rags and red scousers are irrelevant, the English media is riddled with fan boys of these two shithouses ..

The biggest takeaway from that RM-Stuttgart tie for me is that RM are woefully unbalanced with Bellingham, Mbappe, and Vini Jr all in the side.

Valverde is put in a similar position to Rodri on occasion, but is much less dominant (though, I would still love to bring him to City).

Stuttgart only lost because of truly woeful keeping. Otherwise, they could have easily drawn that match… at the Bernabéu.

All three of those players mentioned are mega-egos all playing for themselves, and none of them really seem to care much about the defensive side of the game. That, in my opinion, is going to continue to cause a lot of problems for them against decent opposition.

The penalties that's been awarded in this competition is a complete joke. Genuinely fed up looking at these decisions in the Champions League, Imagine getting a penalty awarded against you like some of them tonight in a Champions League Final you'd be livid.

It does though, doesn't it?

If Real Madrid win 10-0 every game and therefore win the league and City & Bayern win all 8 it will go to goal difference. If Bayern win by 7 every week and City win 1-0 every week, Bayern will finish 2nd and therefore can't face Madrid until the final. Goals could absolutely matter just as it has in the Premier League when we've won the title on goal difference.

Sure but you have to play them at some stage. As a Gooner I can tell you I'd have no fears of us playing Real Madrid - they are a perfect side for us to play against. I'd absolutely want to avoid Man City, possibly Liverpool and that's it.
