Champions League Games | Gameweek 1 | 19/20 Sept '23

You literally couldnt be more wrong in what you just said about arsenal playing significantly better than city , we had 37 attempts on goal against a team that was set up to defend deep and their keeper had an absolutely worldy.

Im also not sure how you come up with the idea that psv are a significantly better team than red star, when red star won their league without losing a match last year, you know the same achievement that you guys will tell anyone about if you speak to an arsenal fan for longer than 8 seconds, and also they have lost 2 out of the last 100 and something games so i dont think your idea that psv are a significantly better team than red star really stands up but thats arsenal all over, when you beat a team who basically play into your hands you get all giddy. You had a good result against a poor team last night, take that and be happy with it but dont like psv are some european heavyweights who you lot demolished while red star are a pub team that we struggled to get past.
Red Star have lost 2 of their last 3 league games to teams playing with 10 men! You are out of your mind if you seriously think they are a better team than PSV.

I'm not saying PSV are great or that Arsenal will win the CL (they won't) but I was responding to someone's comment about how based on round 1 nobody was near City's level and that was patently untrue based on what we saw yesterday and Tuesday night.

The thing about bottling is you're a bottling team until one day you aren't. Exactly the same as City in the CL - bottled it vs Chelsea, vs Madrid. And then one day, as you know, you're no longer a bottler because you win it.
Yep but arsenal will always be bottlers

I wouldn't make a judgement on any other side after a single game. We were pretty erratic at times and whilst we won, it was a game we were expected to win comfortably. There's plenty of time for teams to find form or settle down and the knockouts are always more intense tactical affairs.

Bayern and Real are the biggest threats and I think Napoli, Arsenal, Barcelona and PSG will be capable of beating anyone on their day.

We're the team to beat because we won it last season and destroyed the other two best teams.

shock horror in arsenal fans focusing on a small sample size rather than the bigger picture, losing 2 of their last 3 games does not make them a poor side when they went all last season unbeaten.

what metric are you using to decide that psv are a miles better team than red star, is it your vast recent champions league experience or more likely your vast recent europa league experience which is the level that red star and psv are at, psv havent won a champions league game in their last 15 attempts, like i said you got a good win against a poor side who set up to play into your hands, take that and be happy with it but by no metric are psv levels above red star.

Indeed. I think it will be harder progressing this season than last, let alone winning it!

Most teams in Europe are shite. It’s been weak as piss for a good few years now the champs league. Wouldn’t write Bayern off though just because they were poor tonight. They’ve got the players to hurt anyone on their day including us.
going forward they're excellent, defensively however.......
