for me, 3 good trips there.

or

Barca
Lyon
City
Leverkusen

agree with you there Billy.
For me, Porto was probably one of the best euro away trips I've been on.
Anywhere in Spain or Germany are always good trips.

p.s. is it wrong that I am are still only bothered whether the teams we draw are good away trips/piss ups rather than giving us the best chance to qualify from the group. LOL

I agree, cracking trip!

Good bars, cheap Superbock and a City win, what more do you want?
its a good job the Superbock was cheap........otherwise you wouldn't have got a round in you tight southern git !! ;-)

Is it just me or does that look like a far stronger line up than in previous years? Where are the Cluj's, Basle's and Sturm Graz's?!
Basle, Bate, Plzen, Steaua most likely will make it. Someone mentioned it before, he forgot that only 5 of the 10 teams which qualify through playoffs are non champions from big countries, the other 5 have to be champions from small nations like Switzerland or Belarus.

Yes... apologies...a few errors + inaccuracies in my op

If leagues finished today + highest ranked teams qualified from play-offs etc:

Pot 1: Barcelona / Bayern / Real Madrid / Chelsea / Man Utd / Arsenal / Porto / Benfica

Pot 2: At Madrid / Lyon / Shaktar Donetsk / AC Milan / Schalke 04 / Marseille / CSKA Moscow / PSG

Pot 3: Juventus / Zenit / City / Ajax / Borussia Dortmund / FC Basel / Olympiakos / Galatasaray

Pot 4: Bayer Leverkusen / FC Copenhagen / Napoli / Anderlecht / BATE Borisov / Celtic / Apoel Nicosia / Viktoria Plzen (or Dinamo Zagreb)

Above groups reflect right number of "Champions" from smaller leagues at expense of runners-up in Holland / Ukraine / Turkey etc

Pot 4 now looks more of a lucky dip...while City still at risk of losing Juventus up to Pot 2 while being stuck in Pot 3.

As things stand Lyon, Schalke , Arsenal , AC Milan , Zenit would all be needing to qualify through play-offs and unlikely that all will make it.

( I have picked Basel, Celtic, BATE, Apoel + Plzen as champions to make it through based on their seedings...but very unlikely that it works out as smoothly as that. All these teams have rankings below City so would simply mean some different teams in Pot 4)

Re: Champions League Groups

It's all conjecture at this stage.

Lyon, for example, are currently 3rd in France, with 4 games remaining. However they are only 2 points ahead of St Etienne, and only 3 ahead of Lille and Nice.

Schalke are 4th in Germany, with 3 games left, but only 3 points ahead of Eintracht Frankfurt and 4 ahead of Freiburg.

AC Milan are 3rd in Italy, with 4 matches remaining, but only 1 point ahead of Fiorentina.

PSV are 2nd in Holland, with 2 games remaining, but are only ahead of Feyenoord on goal difference and only 2 points ahead of Vitesse Arnhem.

Until the seasons are finished the pots we're talking about could change fairly substantially, and even then there's the possibility of higher seeded teams not making it to the group stage. Plus, if Dortmund win the Champion's League, they will be a Pot 1 side automatically, thus knocking everyone else down a spot.

I can only think that neither of you have been to Leverkusen. Cologne is close by and better but still awful. I'd rather spend the day in Widnes than Leverkusen. You would be hard pressed to come up with a European away that is less attractive than Leverkusen.

My choice would be Benfica, Lyon and Zagreb.

Nobody in Pot 2 worries me, for what that's worth. Meanwhile, even if Dortmund don't win the Champions League, would they not move up into Pot 2 as a consequence of reaching the final, assuming no slip-ups this evening?

We are always going to have a tough group coz we got no 'istory!
No its more to do with coefficient points and us not really having any and having even less now thanks to an absolutely stupendous season in Europe coupled with the fact people around us and just a bit below have improved endlessly in the last year

^^No s**t Sherlock !!!

Of course it's conjecture at this stage...but it adds some interest to the end of the seasons across Europe to see how it affects City in terms of CL seedings.

Very possible that Juventus end up in Pot 2 for reasons you outline above but good news is that would drag Bayer Leverkusen into Pot 3.

I don't know why everyone is worried about Napoli.

They'll be minus Cavani for sure, there's no longer a threat from Lavezzi either. They are also fucking shite on the road (in Europe anyway).
