for me, 3 good trips there.

or

Barca
Lyon
City
Leverkusen

agree with you there Billy.
For me, Porto was probably one of the best euro away trips I've been on.
Anywhere in Spain or Germany are always good trips.

p.s. is it wrong that I am are still only bothered whether the teams we draw are good away trips/piss ups rather than giving us the best chance to qualify from the group. LOL

I agree, cracking trip!

Good bars, cheap Superbock and a City win, what more do you want?

I have the pots as :

1 Barca, Bayern, Madrid, Chelsea, United, Arsenal, Porto, Benfica,
2 At. Madrid, Lyon, Shaktar, AC Milan, Shalke, Marseille, CSKA Moscow, PSG,
3 Juventus, Zenit, MCFC, Kiev, Ajax, Eindhoven, Dortmund, Basel,
4 Olympiakos, Galatasaray, Leverkusen, FC Copenhagen, Napoli, Fenerbache, Anderlecht, BATE Borisov

Below are the teams who rank above city who are at risk and the teams likely to replace them. In all cases the teams coming in are below City and would move us (and most others up).

At Risk Chelsea / Arsenal - Spurs
Lyon - St Etienne, Lille, Nice
Milan - Fiorentina
Shalke - Frankfurt, Freiburg

Chelsea / Arsenal, Lyon, and Shalke are all 'high risk' lets say, and Milan are only 3 points clear of Fiorentina althgouh your would expect them to wrap it up.

There is real pressure to perform this year (for lots of reasons), on the 5 year ranking next season we lose the 1/4 final run v Hamburg. For context we got the same amount of points for our 2011/12 season as we did for that. Qualifying from the group would see us gain, anything less and we lose points for the 14/15 season.

The 15/16 season we will be Pot 1/2. The season under Hughes when we weren't in Europe is lost so we make a massive gain.

Don't mind too much who we get. Would prefer it to be places I've not been before and somewhere relatively inexpensive to get to. Would like to get Celtic, because I could do that cheap and that would probably be the only way I'll get to all three this year, although I said that last year.

Keep an eye on this over the summer. After each countries season has finished and places are finalised it will show which Pot we are in (assuming seeded teams emerge through the qualifiers) and then will update if there are any upsets.

Re: Champions League Groups

Hard to believe the likes of Juventus and Dortmund are in pot 3 whilst Valencia and Porto are in pot 1.

what's so hard to believe with Juventus and Dortmund having first good europe seasons after million years.

I wouldn't mind these pots, we'd probably get easier group than last 2 though getting Napoli from last one could complicate that. But then again, they won't have Cavani next year.

Ideally, we would avoid el clasicos and bayern and get one of porto/valencia but doubt that would happen. City has big problems with 3 English teams in pot 1, that makes a chance of getting one of spanish giants or bayern at 60%, it wouldn't be bad if spurs would nick a CL place just for that.

Re: Champions League Groups

(I'm sure someone will) correct me if I'm wrong, but although we're currently behind PSG and Juventus, it's only by a very small margin, and I think there's some additional points that we might get if Chelsea win the Europa League (I think some points depend on how all the teams in your country perform). If this is the case, PSG and Juventus won't get any more as all the French and Italian teams are out of both competitions, but we might still gain a couple and possibly move past these two teams.

Not that we necessarily want to - as pointed out, we really want to be in the same Pot as PSG, Juventus, and Dortmund, whether that's 2 or 3.

Re: Champions League Groups

Legalised match fixing what a joke.

We'll end up in a shite group again and struggle.

It's that time of year where we can start to imagine what the pots will look like for next season's Champions League:

Pot 1:
Barcelona / Bayern Munich / Real Madrid / Chelsea / Man Utd / Arsenal /
Porto / Valencia

Pot 2:
Benfica / At Madrid / Lyon / Shaktar Donetsk / AC Milan / Schalke 04 / Marseille / CSKA Moscow

Pot 3:
PSG / Juventus / Zenit St Petersburg / City / Dynamo Kiev / Ajax / PSV / Borussia Dortmund

Pot 4:
Galatassaray / Bayer Leverkusen / FC Copenhagen / Napoli / Anderlecht / Celtic / Fenerbache / Olympiakos

Above listing is in co-efficient ranking i.e. if any of teams listed in Pot 2 don't actually qualify (e.g. Lyon) then PSG would be promoted followed by Juventus etc.

Looking at current situation in leagues across Europe + qualification process...it is probably fair to assume that 1 or 2 teams listed in top 2 pots won't make it.
i.e. there is a good chance PSG + maybe Juventus will end up in Pot 2, but it is pretty unlikely that City will make it into that Pot.

Some random points:
- if Spurs qualify, their ranking is just behind City so everyone would move up a slot as Chelsea / Arsenal would not be in Pot 1.
- Benfica can swap places with Valencia if they progress to Europa final
- if Borussia Dortmund win Champions League this year then they are automatically placed in Pot 1 ...so everyone bumped down a place.
- my Pot 4 is pretty speculative as it is group most dependent on who qualifies through play-offs etc.
- in many ways Pot 3 looks a lot stronger than Pot 2 and exposes weaknesses in UEFA 5-year calculation method i.e likely winners of Italian + French leagues possibly in pots below teams that finish 3rd in same league.

Is it just me or does that look like a far stronger line up than in previous years? Where are the Cluj's, Basle's and Sturm Graz's?!

Basle, Bate, Plzen, Steaua most likely will make it. Someone mentioned it before, he forgot that only 5 of the 10 teams which qualify through playoffs are non champions from big countries, the other 5 have to be champions from small nations like Switzerland or Belarus.
