Was trying to explain this and kept getting lost just writing it.

This is a prime example of why the CL should bin those rules and just do 1st vs 2nd.

Especially when there are so many teams from so few countries nowadays.
The last 8 to the final is an open draw so dont know why they can't do 1st vs 2nd in round 16 as well.

Now more seriously, they have a great coach and are in good form, not as easy as the name suggests but for city almost any team at this stage should be easy.

But maybe you misunderstand the purpose of the competition which is, of course, to make money... more viewers, more advertising revenue... so they don't want the big teams being knocked out too soon JJ

Ah, so it is not actually a competition and apart from it's stupid name it is just a way to make the rich richer.

Think I will give it a miss then and stick to our domestic competitions, which despite VAR are far more appealing.
