Why do Cov and Sunderland not like each other?
Apparently, it goes back to the end of a season back in the 70s. They were both battling against the drop going into the last game. Both games were supposed to kick off simultaneously but, because of traffic, the game involving Coventry kicked off 15 minutes late. Which meant that Coventry (and their opponents; Bristol City, was it?) knew that if their game finished as a draw, they'd both stay up and Sunderland would go down. Which duly happened. I'm assuming that Sunderland think that both Coventry and Bristol basically downed tools in their game.

Ta mate. Never heard of that before!

Neither had I before today. Maybe @Stockport mackem can fill in any holes in the story?
Hi Jim......yes

You've pretty much got it...
1976
We were all but down by Christmas...but went on a crazy run beating West ham 6-0 etc...and we got to the last game needing to match Coventrys result to stay up...Bristol City who Coventry were playing were also at risk....
We lost...and Coventry had delayed the start of the 2nd half by 10 minutes.... Bristol City were drawing with Coventry and piling on pressure..
.they broadcast our result over the tannoy....and both teams stayed.in their own half....and stayed up...if Coventry had lost..We'd have been safe.....

Patrick Roberts playing for Sunderland at Coventry, Wilson-Esbrand just come on for the home side in the 52nd minute.
I actually enjoyed the game maybe because nothing on it for me.
Josh played well when he came on as did Callum.
Patrick Roberts is a decent championship level winger.
Sky were dribble over that bloke from the Rags who scored for the Mackems Called him one of the exciting young prospects in Europe ffs

Watching the Stoke vs Blackburn game (Stoke 2 up at half time). Has to be said, the attendance looks poor. Lots of empty seats on show. Granted; it's a cold night, and the game is live on Sky. And Stoke have been meh this season. But even so, it's a poor effort by the Stoke fans. Is there any ongoing protest that I don't know about re the owners? Or the cost of tickets, maybe?
