Don't mind Leeds or Burnley. IMO we need more Northern teams in the Premier League. Of the playoff teams anyone but Coventry but would prefer Bristol City or Sunderland. I have no time for Wilder and have an irrational hatred for Coventry after their infamous Jimmy Hill relegation cheating days back in 1977 when they werefound guilty but not sanctioned for “influencing the outcome of a game by erroneous or foul means.”

Have a soft spot for Coventry had a mate who was Coventry fan and was KIA in Afghanistan

Yes, but it goes against the whole point of having a league. One team does much better over 46 matches, then has an off day or has a lot of injuries and sees another team go up.
I am sympathetic to this POV but you still have two teams who automatically go because they were quality over a season. In the US every sport has a playoff system to determine the champ and no one cares who has the best record other than better playoff seeding. I prefer the English system whether Prem or lower leagues. I also like the German relegation playoffs.

Sad to hear that and respect for his service. however, my view of the big chinned beard tosser is too strong. Mind.... I think they were robbed by the Rag fawning pigmol mafia in last years FA cup semi!

Nah! It keeps the season alive. Stops sides being on the beach from mid March.
3rd spot is never a conclusion by march in any of the 4 division tbf.

and mid table teams don't just stop playing every club scraps for the extra place and extra prize money

Has there ever been a season when two teams have amassed 100 points before? Not just the Championship, any of the top 4 divisions in the domestic "pyramid". Without googling it, I'm guessing not. When we got the 100 pts, didn’t utd end up with a total in the low eighties? I know we got 99 pts and the dips got, I think, 97 in one of our title seasons (the 18/19 season?)

Probably not two teams....however do not compare divisions.... the number of each has changed over the years. The ones you quote for us and Liverpool represent a 38 game season whilst the Chamionship have 46 games. 8 x 3 = 24 points more t play for in the Championship.

Ha. I’ll always appreciate the merciless taunting they gave the rags in 2012 though!
Oh yes that was brilliant mate.

Always liked them. Never forgotten the great huge support they brought on last day in 91 when we beat them 3-2 which sent them down. I think they brought 11000 plus. No trouble great backing proper fans, out in Manchester no bother. Great, great fans and club.

Were the first side I ever saw vs City when I first came over. 09 I think? Robinho missed a pen and Richards scored. Sat quite near their fans and the banter was choice.
