Just in case anyone has missed this news? A few days old now.

UEFA is close to changing the seeding system for the group stages of the Champions League, Sky Sports News’ Chief News Reporter Bryan Swanson can reveal.

UEFA has confirmed that, under new proposals, the top eight seeds would comprise of the defending Champions League winners, along with the seven domestic league winners of the top-ranked UEFA nations.

Initial talks over the seeding system took place earlier this year, and the plans were approved by the club competitions committee in May.

UEFA president Michel Platini, and other top officials, hope the new rules will prevent defending league champions seeded lower than other teams from their country.

UEFA plan to change the seeding process for the Champions League from next season onwards

Chelsea and Arsenal were both in pot one in this month's draw and seeded higher than Premier League holders Manchester City.

The new rules would prevent top-ranked domestic champions from being drawn in the same group.

Had the rules been introduced this season, it would have meant Manchester City were placed in pot one.

The plan needs approval from the UEFA Executive Committee before it can be introduced but it is hoped it would take effect from next season.

UEFA's next Executive Committee meeting takes place on September 18 in Nyon.

UEFA has also confirmed to Sky Sports News HQ that it has received no complaints from any club involved in the Champions League this season following Thursday's draw in Monaco.

UEFA Executive Committee

The UEFA Executive Committee is UEFA's supreme executive body. It comprises the UEFA President and 15 other members elected by a UEFA Congress. Moreover, upon proposal of the Women's Football Committee, the UEFA Executive Committee appoints a woman as an additional member with the same rights and duties as the other UEFA Executive Committee members.

Members and vice-presidents
The UEFA Executive Committee does not include more than one representative of the same UEFA member association, and each member holds an active office within his member association. The UEFA Executive Committee elects a first, second, third, fourth and fifth vice-president, one of whom is chairman of the Finance Committee. The UEFA President is entitled to propose candidates.

Special advisor
UEFA's President is able to invite third parties to attend UEFA Executive Committee meetings in an advisory capacity. In May 2013, Fernando Gomes (Portugal) was appointed as special advisor to the UEFA Executive Committee in charge of relations with all of UEFA's sister FIFA continental football confederations: Asian Football Confederation (AFC); Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF); Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF); Confederación Sudamericana de Fútbol (CONMEBOL) and Oceania Football Confederation (OFC).

Term of office
The term of office of the UEFA President and UEFA Executive Committee members elected by a UEFA Congress is four years. Eight members, or seven members and the UEFA President, are elected every two years. All members are eligible for re-election. A person aged 70 or more is not eligible for election or re-election. If a vacancy occurs, the next Ordinary UEFA Congress elects a replacement for the remaining term of office. If the vacancy occurs in the final year of a term of office, no replacement is elected.

The term of office of the UEFA President and UEFA Executive Committee members starts at the close of the UEFA Congress at which they are elected, and ends at the close of the UEFA Congress at which their successors are elected. The appointment of a woman as a member of the UEFA Executive Committee is made at the constitutive meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee for a four-year term of office.

Powers
The UEFA Executive Committee is empowered to adopt regulations and make decisions on all matters which do not fall within the legal or statutory jurisdiction of the UEFA Congress or another organ. The UEFA Executive Committee manages UEFA, except to the extent that it has delegated such management, or unless such management has been delegated by the UEFA Statutes to the UEFA President or the UEFA administration.

Duties
The UEFA Executive Committee has the following untransferable duties:

• Overall control of UEFA and the issuing of necessary instructions

• Definition of the organisational structure

• Form and supervision of the book-keeping

• Election of three governance and compliance auditors and the issuing of their terms of reference

• Appointment of the general secretary and deputy general secretary upon the proposal of the UEFA President

• Dismissal of the general secretary and deputy general secretary upon the proposal of the UEFA President, or by a decision supported by two-thirds or more of all members of the UEFA Executive Committee

• Overall supervision of the UEFA administration, including the general secretary and deputy general secretary, especially in terms of observance of laws, the UEFA Statutes, regulations and orders; approval of the annual business plan of the UEFA administration

• Compilation of a written report for presentation to the Ordinary UEFA Congress

• Examination of the administration's report to the Ordinary UEFA Congress

The UEFA Executive Committee may delegate the preparation and implementation of its decisions or the supervision of business to one or more of its members. The committee is also authorised to delegate management, either fully or partly, to the UEFA President, to one or more of its members and/or to the UEFA administration.

Meetings
As a general rule, the UEFA Executive Committee meets once every two months, and is convened by the UEFA President. The UEFA President may invite third parties to attend meetings of the UEFA Executive Committee in an advisory capacity. The committee has a quorum of half plus one of its voting members, including the UEFA President or, in his absence, a vice-president.

Decisions
UEFA Executive Committee decisions come into immediate force, unless the UEFA Executive Committee decides otherwise. A UEFA Executive Committee member or the UEFA President does not take part in the deliberation of any matter or point of issue involving the member association and/or a club affiliated to the member association with which he/she is associated, or in any case in which a conflict of interest exists.

You're going to have a tough sell trying to paint Bayern Munich as a noble, innocent victim always righteously looking out for everyone and persevering stoically in the face of all challenges.

I doubt that any of us care, but for what it's worth we are as fed up as you lot are with getting the same clubs year after year, if we if qualify you just know it will be f##king Arsenal in the next round again.

What's to complain about there? Easy tie.

The presence of Paris Saint-Germain in Group F meant Monaco had to go in Groups A to D. this passed unnoticed.

By the time we have factored in that teams from the same country cannot play each other – again to give the TV companies value – it is possible to start calling the draw at the midway stage. Once Juventus were out it was 50-50 that Roma would play one of Manchester City or Chelsea. They couldn’t face Liverpool or Arsenal.

It was when they drew City out 3rd from pot 2 and they "had to go into Group E" with Bayern which got a lot of heads scratching but UEFA were deafening in their silence about the whole thing. Incredible really.
