We'll be along in may to take it away walkin in a City wonder land
When was " Georgie Best has got VD !!" added..? ;)If we expand beyond the last decade, my favourite is the Sha La La La Summerbee song.
I first heard it, probably its inception, was a a supporters bus going to London in 1966. I think it was on the way to the Leyton Orient match and the Small Faces were blasting Sha La La La Lee on the radio. The chant arose naturally from the song. Within minutes, the whole bus was singing it.
It soon started being aired at matches, certainly after City were back in the First Division.
Then came the add-ons. United fans would respond with ‘Who the Fucking Hell is He’. The response came as ‘The Greatest Centre Forward in History’. Mike played at number nine for two or three seasons at the time with Lee at number seven.
Later City fans added the ‘United One and City Three’ line after the 1968 match at Old Trafford.
Remember singing that ,absolutely brilliant ditty which shut utd fans right up and told the truth.Who put the ball in United’s net, half our fucking team did.
Not heard of that before.but its a Classic,in my book.Huddersfield 1984 ISH after Christmas. We've had Turkey we've had roast. All you've had was sheep on toast
That Union of two sets of supporters, who both despise the Kopites, must have been brilliant.Serenading a train load of plastic scousers onto the concourse at Euston with 'You nearly won league' on the way home from Brighton. To be joined by loads of Evertonians who'd been at Spurs. Sometimes karma is beautiful & the chant was perfect.
There is an edit function available.Sometimes rather than zones!!
Always remember blues on the tube that season, and every time the announcement was made at each station to mind the gap, a big cheer went up and a rendition of ‘Mind the Gap’. Brilliant times...I have loads of favourite City Songs over the years but since this thread is about the past decade, for me it has to be "Mind the Gap". Fellow Blues of my generation have had to put up with so much shit from them that it made the song even sweeter. The best bit is that it's come around again this season !
