Think he`s 66yr old and in a interview last year he said he would be retireing soon .

Chappy told me he was glad to be retiring. he said he loves the job but it needs a younger man in the position now and was happy to get the chance to put his feet up. Sounded genuine to me.
A top bloke who, judging by the turnouts for his testimonial dinners, is well respected by the players.

This. He's 65 but will be turning 66 only a couple of games into next season, and that's retirement age. In previous interviews in the last year he's stated that the job is getting to be a bit too much for him and that he might pass it on to the younger lads who have been his assistants in the last few seasons. He looks somewhat sad, but only as sad as someone who is leaving the job that they've done for 17 years. I can't see why a kitman of all people would be moved on - it's a bit like telling the tea lady that you need to revitalise her department - and on top of that I'm not convinced that if the club had pulled the rug from under Chappy's feet then it would really have been advisable for Nicola to ask him "how do you feel about that?", but she did. I don't think there's anything to be suspicious about here.
 
Not as important as Tony Book & Bernard Halford I know, but, hope he gets the same sort of access all areas pass like they have.
He played his part in the last 17 years, testament to the man, that, every player past & present seems to have nothing but good to say about him.

Hall of Fame next season?
