Playing for Poole sum time back, so I'm told.

Got released from Reading's youth team for being too small.

Typical English coaching that is. How often do you hear of a pro being released because they were too small?

He's doing very well. Reminds me a bit of how Les Ferdinand, Kevin Phillips and Ian Wright hit the scene

Not just England, happened to Iniesta and Pirlo too.

A good player no doubt and a great story behind his rise to the prem. Would he be able to do it for City? Im not sure. Would it be a similar case as to Rickie Lambert at Liverpool?

Similar stories I guess but I think Austin has more strings to his bow,he isn't as one dimensional IMO.
Did you watch Lambert play last season? He had over 10 assists for Southampton. Only Suarez had more for a striker.

Austin is at the point of his career where he wants to play in the Premier League, not sit on the bench.

if anybody can tell me why Austin is not in the England squad and Rickie Lambert is, I'm all ears.
Lambert cant buy a start for Liverpool, let alone a goal.
Rooney, Welbeck, Berahino and Austin would have looked like a nice mix of forwards for the squad after 11 games this season.
Another baffling selection choice by Mr. Hodgson...

Lambert (is at) Liverpool.

There you go, mystery solved.

Well more accurately its because Hodgeson knows him, hense why Voldemort got a call up recently inspite the fact even Swansea fans think he's been below par.

It's who you know, once Austin is linked with a fashionable club or appears in the right newspapers he'll be called up.
