Charlie Kirk shot dead at Utah university

Exactly, I am what most would describe as a centrist, but some posts on this thread are disgusting. A 31 year old gets obviously targeted for his political beliefs and some mock his death. That's how you make extremism acceptable, and create an even more dangerous and fucked up world than it already is. It seems like you can't have any controversial views or you will get killed for it? What the fuck is wrong with some people?!
A 31 year old suffers the fate that he has deemed acceptable for others to suffer as an appropriate cost for the second amendment. You'll forgive me if Karma is the first thing that springs to mind

It will, if it bothers you, I dont give a shit.
A man has been brutally murdered in front of his family, he was a Christian and his faith was front and central to his life, so yeah, I will say a prayer for him and his family.
No he wasn't a christian. To be a christian you must be tolerant of others, avoid hatred, envy or greed, show kindness, patience and humility, care for the poor and vulnerable and live peacefully.

I don't think he was racist. All he did was point out issues in the black community and disproportionate crime rates, single parent families in USA etc.. all facts that should be allowed to be brought up to get to a solution or conversation. He also set up things like Young Black Leaders summits to inspire young black people. Does that sound like racist guy?

He wasn't racist, he just wasn't afraid to point out statistics that make people uncomfortable to bring up, but it wasn't done to make a racist point.

Plenty I didn't agree with him on. Too much of a conservative Christian for me. But racist? No, I dont believe he was.

Guessing the Jewish conspiracy theory nonsense would nota make him racist as he was pictured at the Wailing Wall.

As for him claiming the Great Replacement Theory, he surely cannot be racist.

Do you think he had black mates too, as that would make it certain he was not racist.

Lets be honest - none of us mere citizens know anything at all about what is really going on.

Doesn't stop us having opinions or making assumptions though, does it? You just don't like my assumptions.

Assumptions based on nothing more than a person's own biases and guesswork arent worth liking or disliking.

I think the us vs them rhetoric is getting out of hand so when someone is accusing anyone left of Trump (because that seems to be what the radical left is nowadays) of going around murdering people they need to be told to pull their head in.

Particularly when there isn't any evidence to support their guesses.

I've already said that this shooting was wrong. The bloke was a right wing Christian nutter full of bile. Will the world be better off without him? Totally.
But he didn't deserve to die.

As far as empathy. His children yes, but I'd have severe reservations before extending that to his wife who fully endorsed his bullshit brand of hateful politics.

Not many did when it happened in June.

I must have missed your comments about the Democrat Senator assassinated a few months ago.

I didn't know anything had happened in June - it didn't get the mainstream media coverage this is getting.

Sort of backs up my point that I'm not really interested in US Politics, and just think the world is a scary place.

However, if it happened to a Leftie Politician in June then the person who did that is a psychopath too. And it was probably done by a Far-Right supporter.

It didn't, you're right. Strange that. Strange that it didn't get the condemnation Kirk's shooting got either.

I’m in the US and have teenager boys. And yesterday is weighing on me very heavily. I disagree with Kirk on everything and yet as a parent it’s so hard to figure out what to say. My boys saw the video. I don’t want them to grow up to have Kirk’s views, but I abhor political violence of any kind…and gun ownership. I also think important to call out those who stoke violence. Gah, it’s hard to be a parent. And you can’t even have a reasonable conversation about it in the US because you’ll be accused of being a left wing nutter (which I probably lean this way) or a right wing nutter. And so I post here on a football forum, which frankly seems more reasonable about politics than most anything in the US. (Unless we’re discussing Rico)

One of things I do find really hard is all the posts for Kirk’s poor children from people who typically are “apolitical”. Yes, I feel terrible for anyone that has lost a parent. But actual children were shot at yesterday in school in the US and those people said nothing. What about those kids? Or Melissa Hortmans kids (MN politician)? Why do kids only matter sometimes?

Thanks for the space to ramble.

tbf i think your best solution is to emigrate.

Interesting that we still seem to know very little about the shooter other than which roof they were probably on.

But from the shot to slipping away from that roof, so far completely discretely, seems very professionally planned.
