Right, Mrs P wants an iPad for Christmas and i'm going to get it out of the way now. I have seen an iPad 2, 16g for £329, an iPad mini for £269 or a 4th generation retina display, 16g for £399.

What is retina display? Why is it making it that much more expensive and is a 4th generation that much better than an iPad 2?

Retina display just means that the pixel resolution of the screen is so small (huge number of pixels per inch) that you cannot see individual pixels with the naked eye,

The resolution is so good it can beat your retinas.
What about ipad 2 and 4 though, is it worth spending more or do they do exactly the same thing? They look the same, infact they look ideintical so i'm of the theory that it's those twats at Apple conning folk again, which is why I won't have one.

My sister's just got a 2nd generation 16GB one from Amazon for £290 and says she can't tell the difference from the 4th generation one she uses at work. Just had a look and they're now £311 (white) or £313 (black). I'd guess if your missus isn't a hot shot techno geek she won't know the difference between 2G and 4G.

I just ordered the black 4G one.

Just arrived now. I have an apple product in my house. *spits*

I'm telling you Pige - you will very quickly become hooked!
The next think you will get is Apple TV then an iPhone and then
an iPad mini for the missus.
You'll see... ;-)
iPad is hers mate. Bought it her for Christmas but had the cash to buy it now, whereas I won't have it in December. It's just a big phone really, minus the ability to call.

What does everyone use their ipads for? I only watch Sky Go and Catch Up TV in bed - had a brief fling with Candy Crush and just use it for internet browsing - but the laptop is far more efficient for browsing the internet than the ipad. What am I missing out on?
