cheapest place to buy euros

There's a place on Warrington St. in Ashton. I'm told it's opposite where the old Post Office was.

My mates used it when we last went abroad the other month. The bank rate was 1.23, they got 1.21 and I got 1.14 with Thomas Cook (All with no extras i.e. commission)

I don't know what it's called and it's not there on google maps when streetview was taken in 2009.

Maybe this will jog someone's memory and this difference will save you €42 on £600.

Its called the money shop. Where we have always used

A lot of people online are recommending changing money at that Cash Generator place ......

business rate . 1.27

tourist rate 1.24. which is what you will get.

1.24 * 600 quid = 744 quid

1.20 is the type of rate you get at the airport. don't do it!

1.20 * £600 = £720

them pawnbroker gaffs give a good rate, if you don't get 123/124, dont do it.

Sainsburys in Stockport has a currency change service and the current rate is 1.24 .
Not sure if you have to be a Sainsburys bank account holder though .

I am off to Crete on Tuesday so I will be changing about £1000 on Monday .

Just remember pay cash for your foreign currency.
Do not use a card of any description. If you do there is a loading put on it, even a debit card.

If you do, isn't the cash then insured?

Not if you bought cash
LOL at the very idea!

Try the ATMs when you get over there.Check first for any charges but the rate is usually better than the rate the bank will give you over there.

Nonsense
Unless you have a Halifax clarity card you'll get charged 1.5% for the transaction and a further 1.5% loading by the bank for a foreign currency transaction.
