Ched Evans - serious injury

One quick question, why was there less of a uproar when Marlon King went back to play football after serving his sentence for sexual assault and why was Jessica Ennis fine with having her name on the stand while King played for the Blades but not so regards Evans?

Was her name there while King was?

You still owe me a pint.

Yes.

And ...Do I? ...I'm a bit of a tight **** when it comes to getting them in...this is probably not the best thread for saying that

the uproar surrounding this is ludicrous.

Jessica Ennis should have her name removed from the stand and be banned from the ground. She has brought the name of the club into disrepute and taking action now would deprive her of another moment in the limelight when Ched Evans does play a competitive match.

But her arse looks great in those tight shorts, not fussed about anything else

Let's be honest if Sheff Utd don't sign him someone else will.

i don't know why this subject has caused so much 'outrage' to be honest.

It was only 6-7 years ago the convicted murderer Lee Hughes was signed by Notts County.

What has changed? You can't say a rapist can't play football again if you already allow murderers in the sport.

People are allowed opinions. If sponsors or individuals don't want to be associated with a company who employ a high profile rapist, that's there prerogative.

It's maybe old fashioned but some people still get a little outraged when blokes go around raping women.

I'm also sure there would be plenty of outrage in places IF a convicted murderer was trying to get back into the game.
Im outraged when people get raped .& would not be over the moon if a convicted rapist played for City .but we have laws & rights in this country .he has been found guilty & served his sentence. if we dont let him play football what job would we allow him to do ? Footballers who have killed have been allowed to carry on playing football.it is an emotive subject which will continue to divide opinion

Totally agree

+1

Served his time and now he is having his own civil liberties infringed... He made it to a topic on Question Time though

Christ on a bike. Question Time.

What was the general thoughts about Ched?

The panel seemed to side with the masses and joined in with the mass hysteria re this

As another person has said, there are players out there who have killed people, Ched has gone through the legal system and served what the authorities class as an appropriate term.

If I were him i'd probably go abroad but part of me thinks that he should turn the tables and go to court because of his own rights being infringed

I agree with every word of that mate.

It's ridiculous to suggest he shouldn't be allowed to try and gain employment in the what he is trained to do. Although I'm not sure anyone on here has actually said he shouldn't.

But no football club is obligated to employ him if they feel his prescence on their payroll will give out a meassage they don't want to portray.

And equally anybody who doesn't want any association with a company on the back of who they are employing, is well within their rights to withdraw their association from that company.

I suspect the powers that be at Sheffield United are secretly hoping he's no longer good enough to warrant a contract on ability alone and save them the decsion on moral grounds. It's certainly a tricky position for them if the manager tells them he wants to offer him a contract.

Will the media refer to him evermore as "rapist ched Evans"? That's a bit unfair

Not really, as it's an accurate desciption.

I have my concerns regarding his conviction, as I just don't see how the jury could come to the decision they did based on the sparcity of evidence, and the assumptions that were made, however there's no denying, in a court of law, he WAS convicted of rape, so he is a rapist.

Now, should his appeal against the conviction be upheld then referring to Ched Evans and what happened that night as "rape" or calling him a "former rapist" would, indeed, be unfair, but that hasn't happened at this stage.

Your description of him may well be correct but is that the basis for making him unemployable ?there are many other players who would also fit that description

Nope, ive said on here many times he should be allowed to go back to his previous line of work....

Will the victim be a woman who was raped for ever more?

That's a bit more unfair in my opinion.

Have i missed something, is he no longer a rapist?

If you murder someone is there a time limit on how long you're labelled a murderer?

No - he will be know as "The former Manchester Striker rapist Ched Evans."

Unfair is raping someone - being labelled what you are isn't.

If his appeal is successful then fair enough he should never be known as that, if not then he is what is.

He needs to concentrate on clearing his name, if he does then he can carry on, if he doesn't he'll have to accept his guilt and move on.

Nobody is denying him a job! Somebody will have him but it will mean playing for much lower profile club, earning a lot less money.
