Cheers to my dad, Eamonn. Tell us about your dad (or mum)?

My dad was never into football, he never watched me play, never watched it on the TV, he just wasnt interested. God bless him.

My Grandad on the other hand was a Man City nut, saw us at Hyde Road, Cup finals in the 30s and 50s and he introduced to me to City.

He took me to my first game in 1968 aged 2 1/2, he taught me about Bert Trautmann and Frank Swift, my grandad was a goalie when he was younger and they were his idols. I remember him pointing out Bobby Moore out to me and said remember you have seen son. City won that day, 4-3 or 4-2 i think.

My Grandad passed away in 1974 and thankfully i met Toffee Balls from here and we started going together.

I always think of my Grandad on derby day, he hated the rags :)

my dad supports oldham but prefares rugby .My older brother has always supported city and is a football hooligan(he's 49 years old and still a hooligan).I was with him at the semi against the rags and him and his mates didn't take no shit off them horrible cunts. They made me proud that day(I'm not a football hooligan).

Moved to England when I was 10 in 1975, and growing up as a Rangers fan I had absolutely no interest in English football (for you younger lot, Scottish football used to be as good as the English version, however it's now utter shite). My first mate in Manchester was a Blue, therefore I became a Blue. My other best mate turned out to be a Rag, and to this day I thank the stars above that I met Steve Pentland first and became a Blue. Steve, don't where you are now, but thanks!

Never knew my Dad,fuck knows who he supported??
My mum was a Blue and thats why I am.

My dad came over from Dublin in 1963 and was a rag. Then he came to England and found out first hand that all rags are toilet and so he became a blue and over the following thirty years, he persuaded almost thirty people to follow our great club and many of them are now season ticket holders. Is this a record?

Good call, Eamonn, and thanks.

Thank Eamonn and post your dad stories here.

so what you are saying is he never supported his local club in Ireland and was a glory hunter who then changed his club FFs

and this is ok because he got a few to follow his current club ?

Are you a resident of Planet Twatzoid or something. Jesus, what an absolutely horrible post When he lived in the ROI, he was Shamrock Rovers first and like every Irish person on the Emerald Isle, had a soft spot for the rags sincevhe didn't know an awful lot about them because he didn't live here. Being exposed to the twats put paid to that. And, by the way, there was no such thing as a glory hunting rag forty years ago, you silly little shit, and became a blue when we were in the old division first division And he's had a season ticket through thick and thin ever since. Meanwhile, they then on to win the title 19 times and the Champions League and won 29 trophies before we won the FA Cup last year.

My dad takes great pride in being the absolute oppoiste of a glory hunter and started going to see City when they were in the old second division. He tales equal pride in persuading others to do like wise and he has every right to. Don't you fucking dare belittle bit him for that, you horrible, mean-spirited, bile merchant, dung-beetle.

Glory hunter????

Hang your head in shame, Your ought to be mortified, writing that. If I were you, I'd delete the entire post before I died of embarrassment.

DISpicable.
He's got a point though.

Well said pam,my dad's from mayo and always was quite proud that I never followed that red scum and that I went against the grain and followed gods only team, and pam may you always keep your dad blessed in your heart.

My Dad, Roy, took me to my first game when I was 3 in 1974 and then continued to take me throughout the 70's including going to places like Leeds and Everton away, which was quite an eye opener to an 8 yo. He bought me my first season ticket in the 78-79 season and we've been going together ever since apart form the early eighties when he had to work most Saturdays (I started going with school mates) and the early nineties when I was playing Saturdays. We still have season tickets together now along with a few of my mates two of which are the lads I started going with when my Dad was working. He turned 65 at the end of last year so he's looking forward to getting a cheap ST next season, he deserves it. Cheers Dad!

Cracking thread BTW
