Cheesey's Vlog - Premier League ruling

What next? @Gary James must register as a Premier League authorised historian to cover and produce books relating to anything the Premier League deem owned by them and their brand.

Protect our voices. Protect our custodians. Give those who respect, share knowledge and avoid bitter bias a way to share their passions. CITY should appoint Cheesey as a fan ambassador and give him freedom of the media and right to broadcsst within all places CITY-owned.

Bring back BLUE TUESDAY!!!

Thanks for the mention. I used to take my IPad into grounds to do tweets etc. and was stopped from doing that at the CL final, so it is the same for Europe. I tried arguing with them on the night saying I was a historian but it cut no ice with UEFA.

There are already restrictions on writers using copyright laws and, unless I was sat in a journalists place, I doubt I‘d be allowed to sit there writing my books as the UEFA experience shows.

I know it’s a different thing but fanzine sellers have been prevented from doing their business on club property to protect the rights of the clubs so I guess the PL view vloggers in the same way. Presumably, the PL want to protect Sky, the BBC and global broadcasters whose products may be perceived to be being devalued. It may not be what us fans want but the PL won’t see it like that. They‘ll see it being an abuse of TV rights and for years they’ve had the signs up at grounds about not recording or using cameras.

Thanks for your input. It's always good to see angles and experiences that may be overlooked. The PL is doing a UEFA in that it is closing a shop and taking full control. I guess CITY being at the top of the table, makes it more noticable.

It is sad to see. The Manchester Evening News and other local connections have properly faded. The newspaper that supposedly represents our city is like Tesco is to Ken's newsagents. Less The Pink, more adverts. People and their habits have changed and the digital revolution makes it easier for the bully (like the PL/Cash League) to sweep over the independent champion and ambassador of their club. Sad to see. Probably only set to get worse.

Just watched Cheesey's vlog from today's game and he introduced it with a message he had received from City.
He said City told him that the Premier League have stated he can't film inside any part of the stadium - presumably every club will have been issued the same directive.

Now I appreciate there are many of these youtubers who flout the law and film parts of the action for their videos (Cheesey never has) but banning them all from filming in the concourse or exec lounges before or after a game has started / ended or at half time is not damaging the PL "product" in any way.

So his vlogs now will come from outside the grounds before and after the game with no half time input at all

What next? Forcing all the tourists filming half of the game on their phone to hand their phone over upon entry to be placed in a box?

Please don't turn this into a critique of Cheesey, keep it to the issue of youtubers and what / how they do it

The premier league is archaic in it's approach to policing this stuff.

They think removing a viral video of a wonder goal with 2m views from twitter helps their product, whereas if they just left it up it'd get 50m views - marketing they'd pay through the nose for.

Same with these vlogs. It's not my cup of tea, but the combined views of these vlogs is millions a week and it's literally packaging up the fan experience the PL prides itself on and shows it to people round the world that the PL has spent decades trying to attract.

This is a real shame. I enjoy some of the vlogs …Cheesy, Prime Mutton (always makes me hungry) and all the others who follow City.
Not personally a fan of Thogden and his ilk who are neutrals sharing “the experience” at various clubs but I know many like them too. I hope they manage to find a way around the restrictions. Don’t know why the Premier League feel so threatened.

Read the title and thought Cheesey had managed another exclusive and we had been cleared
