Chelsea 2017/2018

Seems like their manager is determined to adopt this negative mindset around the CL games and their aftermath. Stupid.

Very true. The more that line is pedaled, the more quickly myth becomes accepted fact. Indeed, in respect to the Europa League, playing on Thursdays has almost become an accepted and excusable reason for teams dropping points on Sundays.

Re Willian - I like him but don't watch that much of him. Question for the Chelsea fans among us, his he a 'match of the day player', inconsistent or very good but just so happened to be left out yesterday?
It is odd, I have only become aware recently that Chelsea fans really don't rate him at all on the whole. Lots of them want rid. It really surprised me the way they view him because as an outsider I always think he looks to be one of their best players. When they were stinking the place out a couple of years ago under mourinho, Willian seemed to be the only one who gave a shit and often looked like he carried them single handedly. Still if they watch him week in week out, they probably know what he is really like.

I'm not to sure that fans on forums are always the most objective in their opinions. There are very few CIty players haven't had a coterie of detractors after a short run of bad form .
Certainly within the last two years Aguero, SIlva De Bruyne Toure Kompany Ottamendi, Sterling Stones& Delph have attracted vociferous detractors at times.
Of yesterdays team I reckon only Jesus, Ederson & Walker have not had much criticism since their arrival. Even Sane was reckoned to be rubbish after a single substitute appearance against the rags. (Actually when I had a quick look at the matchday forum at half time there seemed to be a few criticisms levelled at the incredibly hard working Jesus.)

All the ones I know (Live in London) are gutted they can't get rid of him to China. Had a purple patch when as you say the rest of the squad downed tools and it was just the fact he cared that he got some plaudits. Now Hazard etc are back he is being shown up.

I can only assume Conte thought his stamina would be useful to try and press the defence rather than putting on Batshuayi.

It was a defensive substitution rather than an attacking one.

Had the game been two weeks earlier after we played Feyenoord away on the Wednesday and they played at home to Azerbaijan's finest I highly doubt he'd have complained about the CL games.

Contes used to playing Friday before champions league and Sunday after. None of that here mucker. Whinging twat.

Even though we totally dominated Chelsea, we only won 1-0, mainly down to good solid defending. As such I still think they will be there or there abouts at the end of the season. Especially as they actually have more points at this point in this season than last.

Interesting that last season, some on here were declaring Conte as far superior to Pep in the tactical stakes.Having witnessed the game on Saturday, where our team completely outwitted, out fought, and systematically dismantled Chelsea.....do those same people believe that still to be the case?
