I had a feeling of foreboding about this match, with Sterling & Palmer having something to prove. Both played excellent today & affected the in game play & goals.
Defensively we were fuckin shocking! We expect maybe one bad defensive slip up per match, but THREE? The only goal I thought was unavoidable was Tiago's header, the rest we should've dealt with.
Walker, Gvardiol & Dias looked uncharacteristically nervous all match. No excuses, as we rested many players midweek. Chelsea threw everything into the match, with home advantage, so getting a point away at Stamford Bridge is nothing to sniff at.
I'm fuckin gutted, but also concerned for matches like this because apart from Grealish, we had no game changers on the bench.
The season's got a long way to go, & we go into yet ANOTHER International break a point ahead of the rest at least.
The season's been a slog so far & we've got the Club World Cup coming up. We've got King Kev & Stones to come back which will hopefully add to our impetus, & no CL until February.
We pick ourselves up & dust ourselves off. Chelsea had to be at their maximum to match us at their ground in shit conditions, but we know we can do far far better than today, ESPECIALLY defensively!
