Chelsea (a) post match thread

Someone needs to say it as it was.

Mancini like Pellegrini had one decent season and the rest was mainly fucking turgid. It wasn't that long ago not to remember the crap performances and defeats yet its like history is being re written on here yet again.

Fans constantly longing for his return are a complete fucking embarrassment and i will tell you why. Not a fucking peep from any of them when things are going well, not one peep yet as soon as we lose a game they are back on moaning and whining.

Some are far more interested in being proven right on an internet forum at times than they are City doing whats required and moving forwards.

We played well last night. Some of the attacking play is on a different level to anything else seen in this league and but for some lax finishing and the final ball, we are not far off. Kun, Sane, Jesus, Sterling, KdB, Merlin gracing the pitch yet its moan fucking moan. "Should have backed Bobby" is the cry yet you all forget one thing. he would have spunked money on Van Persie and whilst it might have won a league, we can only guess he too would have been gone now and those players mentioned Merlin and Kun aside probably wouldn't be here and we would be watching the Ballotelli show week in week out or at least we would when he wasn't suspended.

We need new full backs, a keeper and a dominant CM. We can all see it, we have all said it and we have all acknowledged it will happen this summer when several contracts are up and players will leave that are just no longer up to it. What do you want Pep to do in the meantime? Play players he doesn't have? Chelsea barely mustered a shot 2nd half last night and but for a deflection and some poor goalkeeping and a lucky deflection yet again off the penalty save they have actually done fuck all. They didn't out play us, we out played them for large periods yet some just dont want to see it.

Pep came in and said we are going to change the mentality of the club. Not just the tam, the club and he said on several occasions its going to take time. We are competing against clubs with decades of experience at the very top when in reality we have been there for a few years. We went unbeaten at the start of the season but he kept telling us we would lose game, lots of games and he has been proven right. Maybe he knew then the quality in the squad wasn't of the required standard? He told us it wasn't a quick fix and that his job would take several years. Did anyone actually listen to what he said or was it in one ear and out the other?

Best owner in world football, some of the best talent in world football and without a doubt, the best manager in world football as shown by his record and for those that will harp on its easy when you are with Barca and Bayern, his job here is to turn us into those same sort of elite clubs that for the next 50 years will dominate the game because he has changed our mentality into the same as theirs. Winners!

The fans also need to change their mentality. Its not all about the next game or the next few weeks. it will take time but it will happen because everything our owner planned for when he came in and promised he has delivered and in Pep, he will deliver once more. If you cant see the improvements being made within the club as a whole i feel sorry for you. if you cant see what he is trying to do out on the pitch i feel sorry for you. Pragmatism is thown around here like confetti. You want pragmatism? Watch a Mourinho side or a Pulis side because that's pragmatism. Turgid, crap anti football that harps back to the days of muddy pitches, big lad up front and shouts of "get rid" from the sidelines and "get it up to the big man up front".

No fucking thanks because we are better than that and it might win the odd battle but it wont win the war because we will win the war.

Finally refs and linesmen are screwing us over every single game. See that for what it is and accept it and instead or turning on the team, direct some of that anger at them because they are costing us big time. Such fine lines in football and this season we have been royally fucked over and its costs us so many points its untrue. We get what we where due and the league table looks very different and the mood on here is very different. Its not Peps fault they are bent, nor is it Merlin's or Raheem's and like us, the players are fucked off with it as well but its a battle right now and we all have to take the fight to them and win the war.

Its a passionate game and we all love this club but some of the stuff written after a defeat is cringe worthy and downright disrespectful.

Enjoyed that post.

I try to skip most of the crap written on here but it is unavoidable if you spend more than a few minutes on the site.

I think you made reference elsewhere to some people lapping up the media bullshit about our club and I'm sure people do. Inevitably, plenty of people can't form opinions without someone giving them to them in the first place.

You mentioned pragmatism and people failing to listen to what Pep has been telling them. Pragmatism was something he spoke about earlier in the season I'm pretty sure he said to the media "Guys, I'm so pragmatic" (sounds right even if not a direct quote). His point being that his so called all out attack approach led to Bayern conceding only 7.5 shots per game and it half a goal a game in the league. That's real pragmatism and he will make it work at City. In fact, when it comes to shots conceded (one of my favourite stats), City have the best record in the league with a current average of 8.1; unfortunately that is not yet translating into the kind of goals against record we want but it will if Pep is backed in the transfer market this summer.

Give the manager time and we will start to put a real stranglehold on most of the games we play and that will produce trophies. We are moving in that direction and the pragmatic thing to do is get Pep's contract extension signed.

Yet he persists with De Bruyne, who hasn't played well since George Michael was last out skiing.

That's on him.
De Bruyne instead of who though. If Gundogan had been fit then De Bruyne and Silva may both have had rest time, apart from that we don't really have anybody that can play that position. He hasn't played well but for his level, but I don't think he's been terrible.

All teams put in poor displays. I can count ours on five fingers. Our problems will remain until we start taking more of the chances this team still manages to create.

We failed to retain our title in 2013 because the goal drop-off was so big. We won it the following year because we had scored 100 goals by the time we had played Crystal Palace at Christmas.

Chelsea are the flip side of the coin. Their first objective is not to lose, and then prey on the pickings.

I would still argue that we would be above them, regardless of some of the crap we have witnessed at the back, simply by taking our own chances.

Chelsea home, Everton home, Liverpool home, Chelsea away, Middlesboro at home, Stoke at home is accounts for 12-14 lost points.

Not sure why people continue to refer to managers of the past irrespective of a good performance or otherwise in the match day threads.

Its meaningless in the context for a game under a new manager as it will be when Pep moves on.

Maybe they are big fans of Ian Anderson but there is a place for that on another forum.

Not sure if you mean "Living in the Past" or "Thick as a Brick".

Was at Stamford Bridge last night and I've just watched the game again ref was a **** and we again missed to many chances. Stones at the end was typical of our luck in front of goal. Kante should have been off for persistent fouling, Costa has to see red for the studs down Vinny. Delph played really well as did Kompany. Clichy is utter gash and I can't wait for him to leave.

We'll finish top 4 I'm 100% sure of it and hopefully win the FA Cup. I seriously can't wait to get to the summer and get rid of all the deadwood and mediocre players we have and replace them with hunger and quality. I'm already looking forward to next season #inpepitrust

Losing tonight has again been self-inflicted by Pep. Starting Delph and Navas ahead of a fully fit Yaya Toure and Sterling, who were left on the bench and have been 2 of our most consistent players this season, was ridiculous. Playing Fernandinho at right-back against Hazard cost us dear and his mistakes causedboth goals tonight- he is a brilliant defensive midfielder, a £30m one at that, and needs to be playing there and only there. Bringing Kompany back tonight was the right call by why on earth play him as the left-sided centre-back where he has never played in his career, in his first game back when Stones is equally comfortable with either foot, that was just bonkers!!
Despite us losing, Pep then waited 80 minutes to make a substitution and brought on Sterling for De Bruyne, who had possibly been our best player on the night, and left Navas, by far our worst player on the night, on the field. To then add insult to injury, three minutes later he brought on Nolito, who has not scored since 10th December, for Sane, currently our most dangerous player and main goal threat, with 8 goals in his last 14 appearances from a wide position, yet still kept on Navas, who has not scored for over 3 seasons- absolutely bonkers!!!. I'm starting to think Pep is completely out of his depth in English football and we are not even going to finish in the top 4- Arsenal are now only 4 points behind with a game in hand and always finish the season strongly. Right now, Pep is a complete liability with his crazy decision-making every game. I challenge any City fan to justify some of his decisions tonight and in the rest of this season. The facts are we have taken 3 points out of the last 12 and this has been our worst season in 6 years. We are going backwards under Pep right now....
All good points, and highlights almost perverse decisions from granola. Worse is the timing of the subs, surely you need to give them at least 15 minutes. The Iheanaco sub v spurs was the worst. Put on a striker on 5 mins to go instead of a defender just when they're all out to score the equaliser. Surely that is the tIme to put an extra defender or extra midfielder on, spurs duly scored because of tHe extra space

Needless penalty and allowing Hazard so much space in the box and its going to be a tough ask.

If as Pep says we are not good enough at both ends then we need players who are.

We are not as bad as some make out but not competitive enough to challenge with the players we have in the current squad.

Again our record against the top half is woeful this season.

As many have said Chelsea and Spurs and Liverpool are average sides so it shows how far we have to go.
I dont think we are as far as some people make up, when the squad is freshened up next season i think we will have a good go at the league
