Chelsea (a) post match thread

I'm sure he learnt plenty from Monaco, seems he put some of that learning into last nights set up where i thought he got things spot on.

Funny enough I don't think he got it spot on - the setup was perfect but the season's already gone and we weren't really playing for anything so why play Delph and Dinho together? There was no better time for Pep to implement his crazy attacking philosophy, Pep should have thrown all our attacking options at them, peg them back completely and break their resilient back 4. They played Zouma as a make shift fullback, if we had Sterling on the pitch yesterday, with Nacho and aguero in a 4-1-2-3 setup I am sure we would have taken that game.

Someone needs to say it as it was.

Mancini like Pellegrini had one decent season and the rest was mainly fucking turgid. It wasn't that long ago not to remember the crap performances and defeats yet its like history is being re written on here yet again.

Fans constantly longing for his return are a complete fucking embarrassment and i will tell you why. Not a fucking peep from any of them when things are going well, not one peep yet as soon as we lose a game they are back on moaning and whining.

Some are far more interested in being proven right on an internet forum at times than they are City doing whats required and moving forwards.

We played well last night. Some of the attacking play is on a different level to anything else seen in this league and but for some lax finishing and the final ball, we are not far off. Kun, Sane, Jesus, Sterling, KdB, Merlin gracing the pitch yet its moan fucking moan. "Should have backed Bobby" is the cry yet you all forget one thing. he would have spunked money on Van Persie and whilst it might have won a league, we can only guess he too would have been gone now and those players mentioned Merlin and Kun aside probably wouldn't be here and we would be watching the Ballotelli show week in week out or at least we would when he wasn't suspended.

We need new full backs, a keeper and a dominant CM. We can all see it, we have all said it and we have all acknowledged it will happen this summer when several contracts are up and players will leave that are just no longer up to it. What do you want Pep to do in the meantime? Play players he doesn't have? Chelsea barely mustered a shot 2nd half last night and but for a deflection and some poor goalkeeping and a lucky deflection yet again off the penalty save they have actually done fuck all. They didn't out play us, we out played them for large periods yet some just dont want to see it.

Pep came in and said we are going to change the mentality of the club. Not just the tam, the club and he said on several occasions its going to take time. We are competing against clubs with decades of experience at the very top when in reality we have been there for a few years. We went unbeaten at the start of the season but he kept telling us we would lose game, lots of games and he has been proven right. Maybe he knew then the quality in the squad wasn't of the required standard? He told us it wasn't a quick fix and that his job would take several years. Did anyone actually listen to what he said or was it in one ear and out the other?

Best owner in world football, some of the best talent in world football and without a doubt, the best manager in world football as shown by his record and for those that will harp on its easy when you are with Barca and Bayern, his job here is to turn us into those same sort of elite clubs that for the next 50 years will dominate the game because he has changed our mentality into the same as theirs. Winners!

The fans also need to change their mentality. Its not all about the next game or the next few weeks. it will take time but it will happen because everything our owner planned for when he came in and promised he has delivered and in Pep, he will deliver once more. If you cant see the improvements being made within the club as a whole i feel sorry for you. if you cant see what he is trying to do out on the pitch i feel sorry for you. Pragmatism is thown around here like confetti. You want pragmatism? Watch a Mourinho side or a Pulis side because that's pragmatism. Turgid, crap anti football that harps back to the days of muddy pitches, big lad up front and shouts of "get rid" from the sidelines and "get it up to the big man up front".

No fucking thanks because we are better than that and it might win the odd battle but it wont win the war because we will win the war.

Finally refs and linesmen are screwing us over every single game. See that for what it is and accept it and instead or turning on the team, direct some of that anger at them because they are costing us big time. Such fine lines in football and this season we have been royally fucked over and its costs us so many points its untrue. We get what we where due and the league table looks very different and the mood on here is very different. Its not Peps fault they are bent, nor is it Merlin's or Raheem's and like us, the players are fucked off with it as well but its a battle right now and we all have to take the fight to them and win the war.

Its a passionate game and we all love this club but some of the stuff written after a defeat is cringe worthy and downright disrespectful.
And you're forgetting the endless 4-0 5-0 6-0 victories under Mancini home and away. His strategy was simple and bloody effective. Solid defence, draw oppositions and strike with pace in space vacated further forward. This high pressing bollocks we had /have under pep and pelle compresses still further limited space and leaves us vulnerable to counter. It's ill-conceived.

Forget the personnel,We're probably the mentally weakest side in the current top 7.Heads drop so quick when things aren't going for most of our players, always waiting for others to make things happen,no one seems to ever want to take responsibility. The Chelsea game could still be going on till now and don't think we would've equalised..Never looked like scoring another one.Courtois rarely looked troubled and Chelsea barely broke sweat.Nolito's pass probably our only bit of magic all night.

We were away at Chelsea, had 20% more possession, had more than twice as many shots as them, more than twice as many on target, hit the bar & missed a sitter at the end.

They put together 2-3 decent attacks & scored twice from a deflection & a rebounded missed penalty. They're a very solid & clinical team, and that's why they're deserved champions.

We weren't fantastic, especially in the second half, but it was far from the shambles we put together every big game last season - no doubt we have obvious weaknesses & areas to improve next season, but for me I like to at least take note of the progress. Improve the personnel in key areas & I'm optimistic we'll start winning these games next season rather than repeatedly falling into the same traps.
Possession Means jack shit in the modern game. Teams play counter like Real Madrid did to Bayern to deadly effect when Guardiola was there

That's a passionate post

Surprise , Surprise , MOTD even commented that we were the better side and were unlucky and the general consensus of the media agrees , the stats dont lie , twice as many shots on target , twice as many corners , over 60% possession in their half , the only cocks who believe we were shite post on here .Fair play to Chelsea and their Italian manager they ground out another result which is a true sign of champions , interesting if a nuetral was asked if you were given a free season ticket would you watch the chavs or us , if you life was all about winning trophies at any cost probably the Chavs (or maybe Celtic would be better for "fans" who can't stomach a defeat and have a low esteem and have to be associated with something succesful , basically a Rag)but if you want entertainment and excitement with players that get you off your seat then come to the Etihad.

I think Pep is getting a bit too much slack from some. That's 11 wins in 24 matches since we won our first 6. That is not good enough whichever way you look at it. I am happy he is here and have seen some glimmers that he will get it right but I've been a bit underwhelmed this season especially given the start we had.

The players are a problem but he has a lot to learn in this league too.

It is vital we get the incoming transfer right. If we mess that up it could be another difficult season next year.
I hadn't seen that stat and it is indeed very poor.

You're right about our next transfer window too. It's imperative we get it right. If we don't and we are still looking pretty much the same next season, I think Pep will quit. He looks completely and utterly pissed off right now and continually breaking records in terms of his underachievement - most games lost, worst CL performance etc - cannot be filling him with enthusiasm. Seeing his side get kicked to pieces with endless fouls and nothing from the refs, isn't helping either.

Yeah, I think we'd beat them at Wembley

There are lots of peoples on here, twitter etc talking about 'shambles', 'fraud' etc. They must have watched a different game than me

We kept the ball, went forward from minute one and if it wasn't, again, for basic individual errors would have got something

I'd say Chelsea have better players than us, so losing is no disgrace

We have a serious lack of goals in this team, that is a big issue. Our last league championship season had Aguero, Negredo, Dzecko and Yaya all getting 15-20+ in all comps - as well as possession, our style relies on scoring because our keepers don't save much. So for all the grief the defence get, the front 6 need to do more, De Bruyne and Fernandinho in particular

It is impossible to predict wins against the better sides with this defence. We just can't be sure of anything this season. Wembley is 50/50 in both games (if we get through the semi.)

I've not forgot them at all but they where not endless.

Out of 191 games we failed to win 78, drawing 38 and losing 40.

Its a very good record but it isnt the nirvana some want to paint it as is it and it doesn't point to endless huge wins and a rock solid defence that never conceded a goal and that's my point.

Much more importantly, He is gone. Its in the past and its what we do today, tomorrow and the next 3 years that's important.

BT calling it a master class. I think Chelsea are efficient and do what they do well but it's hardly block buster football. We flattered to deceive but we have dominated them for 180 minutes but got fuck all to show for our dominance. Season is pittering out - lose at Wembley and we'll be looking for the transfer window.
It's worse that we were dominant and still lost. Where do we go from here? When you can't get anything even when you dominate?
We'll see if sane can become world class as this is how teams will shape up against him at the very top... confident he can do it

As for that lacklustre last 30 minutes, it was more down to pep, KDB struggled, again, throughout. It actually cried out for yaya this, the pace he could of handled as they were happy to sit back!
agree, strange subs again and why so late?

the summer transfer window cant come quick enough can it! Hope Pep gets the players he wants and then we can judge if Pep is a fraud or not over the next few seasons.

We have all the money in the world, the best manager in the world (hopefully) , the best owners in the world, the stadium, the campus, our kids winning trophies in all age groups, come on, we've never had it so good!

Defeats like last night hurt yes, im still incredibly excited about the future though, and let me tell you now, it takes a lot for a 43 yr old man to get excited these days! :-)
