Chelsea (a) post match thread

it was liverpool away revisited, we know what needs doing, if we had chelsea's back 5 we would have won the league by a country mile.
get ready for the goodbyes, there are going to be quite a few of them
Yeah you're probably not wrong there.

I thought we played well but we do need to finish some of our chances. I still think we'll do them if we meet them in the cup. We can't be the better team three times and lose all three surely.

Agreed.

The Board should've backed Bobby immediately after 93-20 and fired us on. He wanted Hazzard or Sanchez,Van piss pot,de Rossi & Javi Martinez.

Despite a couple of trophies we've stood still, the new tv money has allowed everyone else to catch up,narrow the gap or overtake us.

We should've left the rags so far behind that theydv sold up and fcuked off to their homeland of Singafuckingpore.

It makes my blood boil.

Viva Pep.

FFP was a much bigger threat at the time, it's not really surprising that the Board was a bit more cautious. And some of those players just didnt want to join us.

Yeah, I think we'd beat them at Wembley

There are lots of peoples on here, twitter etc talking about 'shambles', 'fraud' etc. They must have watched a different game than me

We kept the ball, went forward from minute one and if it wasn't, again, for basic individual errors would have got something

I'd say Chelsea have better players than us, so losing is no disgrace

We have a serious lack of goals in this team, that is a big issue. Our last league championship season had Aguero, Negredo, Dzecko and Yaya all getting 15-20+ in all comps - as well as possession, our style relies on scoring because our keepers don't save much. So for all the grief the defence get, the front 6 need to do more, De Bruyne and Fernandinho in particular

We dominate possession, have many chances yet cannot score. Familiar theme, certainly Pep thinks so and seemingly is unable to change it.

Its about time we accepted that against some teams it is better to just accept we have been like that all season and are likely to continue being incompetent where shooting / scoring is concerned and just play defensively for a draw. The alternative is we create chances for an opposition who know how to score by attacking our flaws.

They made us looks like boys for fucks sake. Other than Vinnie we are embarrassingly easy to bully off the ball. Frustrating as fuck to watch and I can't pretend to take many positives from that performance.

I think Pep is getting a bit too much slack from some. That's 11 wins in 24 matches since we won our first 6. That is not good enough whichever way you look at it. I am happy he is here and have seen some glimmers that he will get it right but I've been a bit underwhelmed this season especially given the start we had.

The players are a problem but he has a lot to learn in this league too.

It is vital we get the incoming transfer right. If we mess that up it could be another difficult season next year.

Big problem is we can't win or even draw games even when we are the better side. Titles are own by teams that win even when they're not playing well.
Smacks of complete nativity by Guardiola.
Why try Navas at fullback and Delph in the same side against the top side? Strategy didn't even work v Hazard. Where we're the usual 11 with Toure and sterling?

In what way would you have him adapt?

Well he needs to stop his obsession with playing out from the back, especially in the UCL - cost us a lot, blunders here and there. Yesterday was the best I have seen us play from the back and that was simply because Kompany wasn't having any of that "play from the back" crap, he kicked the ball far into the oppositions half when we were under pressure.

Secondly, he needs to change his philosophy a bit, a good general knows when to hold and when to attack. Excessive attacking might be fun to watch and is a bold statement BUT when you have done the job at home (The 5-2 game against Monaco for example) you should place more emphasis on holding on to your advantage. A flat back 4 with 2 dm in front of them would have been the reasonable thing to do away at Monaco.
