Chelsea (A) Post Match Thread

That was one hell of a competent performance. The first half we blitzed them, the second half kept them at arm's length, pity for that goal when everybody's mind was already in the dressing room. And it looked like Pep read somewhere our press was not like it used to be, so he wanted to prove something. Plug Phil, Bernardo and Raheem with KdB behind into electricity grid and see if they are able to provide all energy for all 90 minutes at Stamford Bridge. Didn't we smash, then very strong Barca, a few years ago with the same energy?
But Gundo, can we just stop culling, deadwooding, etc this man, please!

Funny... after the West Brom game a little over 2 weeks ago some here said the league's done and "lucky to make top 4". I realize the league is long from done but all I can say is thanks to the others here who remained positive. I honestly hope that the nay sayers have jumped ship completely. It gets so damn tired hearing the pissing and moaning.
Check out the pre match thread, and probably the first 20 pages of the match thread, but I don't go in there ever.

Absolutely top class start to the New Year that and the first half hour or so was one of the best City performances I've seen in a long time.

Of course Gundogan will get MOTM and it's fully deserved. That was as good a midfield display as you will see. His goal was absolutely superb and the lead up play just before it was top class. Remember, we were playing a decent Chelsea side away and it looked like Sheff United at home the way we made them look!

Top marks as well for Dias and Stones. They are really looking the part now and Stones is looking like he is starting to enjoy bullying a bit which is fantastic to see. I don't think there's a better ball playing centre half in the league than Stones, but the impact Dias has had has been just as much as VVD at liverpool. The centre of defence looks as good as anyone else that I've seen. I can't wait for Dias to get his first goal and my money is going on him getting one against united, leaving Maguire eating grass.

I have been a big critic of Pep in playing Gundogan and Rodri, but they are looking a decent pairing now. I would still prefer only one to play mind as they lack pace, but when they get the ball they control the game. I would love to see Rodri's stats to see how many bad passes he's made - I get it's less than 10. I know many people aren't fans but I see him like Silva in that you can pass the ball to him and know that he will move it on without losing it. A great player IMO.

I know many are a bit disappointed with the Chelsea goal, but in all honesty it was just a great cross and great goal. Hudson-Odoi is a quick, strong player and there wasn't much we could do about it. Sometimes you just have to applaud a great cross and finish.

Let's hope we can now build on these results and make a serious title challenge. This years PL is there for ANY team that can string 10 wins together and we know this squad has the talent to do it.

What a fantastic start to the New Year! Happy New Year blues!

Played the same as many other games this season but we simply took our chances.

It’s ALL about taking chances!

From there we can play with confidence and swagger and don’t have to be chasing games.
The press love an angle, Pep is doing right by him and he knows it.
Loved the reaction between Foden and Pep at his substitution, looks like a good relationship to me!
