Chelsea (A) | Post-Match Thread

Still reflecting on the win, as much as tuchel set them up wrong we were fucking magnificent on the day. I really need to stop thinking about last years CL final because it winds me up
You have to let it go, look at it this way, when we do win it, we will have as many Blues there as possible with a tremendous atmosphere. I loved the fact we won the League last season as it was a very welcome distraction but we all know it was underwhelming at times.

That was like sitting in front of a washing machine and watching how it goes through a cycle. Chelsea were dirty laundry of course. That off-the-ball game was insane and it went for 90 bloody minutes. I am not sure how it is sustainable in the course of the whole season, but it's fun to watch, particularly when it is coupled with sublime skills on the ball. I always refer to 'that Barcelona game' - not it's been substituted with 'that Chelsea game'.

You're correct it's not sustainable but with our squad it doesn't have to be for a significant number of games. We've definitely been stitched up on the fixture calendar knowing we had a CL game mid week in between the Chavs and the Dippers away. No way will Pep start with the same team tomorrow, I fully expect Gundo (if fit) Mahrez, Ferdy, Stones and Zinchenko to play along with KDB and Bernie playing a part as starters or subs.

As most have said it was a total performance from the first minute, with everyone contributing.

One of the things that struck me was that we even seemed to know what we were doing at corners. Although we didn’t score from one we managed to cause some problems to a Chelsea side with three centre backs, big full backs and Lukaku. Not an area where you expect us to do well but we seemed to raise our game on every part of the pitch.

Admittedly, I didn't see the whole game, just the "highlights" on MOTD.

But I was wondering if, considering the previous three meetings, where Tuchel appears to know how to play against City, if the signing of Lukaku for them could be a mistake? Does he slow them down?

As good as Lukaku is, and as poor as the Werner has been, I think they needed more of a 'fox in the box', pacy, fast- footed player to feed off the fast paced breaks. A Gabriel Jesus type of player.

For me, I'm not sure Lukaku is their answer. Good if you put it over his head to run onto and he'll turn you every time if you go touch tight, but give him a couple of yards and as others have pointed out, he then just becomes a flick on merchant. Alright, maybe a bit sarcastic there, but you get my drift.

I though most of our corners were decent as well, just needed someone in front of keeper who claimed a few that were in very dangerous positions
