Getting bricked at Leeds after Donachie scored
Team supported
City and Darlington FC
Had a great day yesterday, took my youngest, showed him a proper City day out.

I could not believe how poor in noise terms the Chelsea support was.As an older Blue I can remember Chelsea being one of the noisiest set of fans around but yesterday was pathetic from them.1984 Friday night game at MR a prime example

Got me thinking, could this ever happen to our support after a few years of success - like the Rags,Arsenal etc, more like going to the theatre expecting to be entertained?

Must admit its not where I want City to go.When 1 - 0 down my lad was distraught - had to give him a lesson in dealing with adversity but to be honest he has not known it with City!

if you have been.goin to home games since we moved you will know we are already at this stage bar 2-3 games a season why do u think the club have tried the singing section , movin away fans , even piping chants down the tannoys as far back as pearce being here ?its already happened mate

In all honesty mate I cant see our fans ever going like that, yes there will be newcomers,of different creed and race, but I firmly believe there will always be a hardcore of City fans till the end of time.

It's in the blood, and as us older ones can all relate to "we were there when we were shit" scenarios for the rest of our lives, our recent history tells that very story,34000 sell out every home game in the third tier of English football, that statistic for a start will never ever be bettered by any club in this country, ever,no matter how many more big clubs slip down the tables in years to come.

I dont get to many aways these days, but was there yesterday, and I noticed quite a few faces that I have seen on my travels up and down the years, and they probably think the same when they see the likes of me,thats what makes us unique as far as football supporters go.

They talk about Newcastle,as 99% of them wear their barcodes on their travels, they talk about the rags and Liverpool with coach load after coach load coming up the M1 or M40 from the south every other week, but would they be there in the thousands week in week out when (and believe me it is happening) go shit ?

You will probably think that the answer is NO,and you know what you will be right to have that assumption, because it will prove to be true.

City fans will never and never have left a sinking ship, and we have sunk a few bloody times over the years !!

You get my point, for fuck sake stop being pedantic,it's not City fans fault if the away support didn't sell out

To be fair, our home attendances were starting to fall to around 23-24k even with large away followings that season. They picked up again when the results picked up. It's a myth that we sold out most of our matches in the second division. Don't get me wrong, our support was excellent though.

there were tickets available in the home section for 90% of home games nothing wrong with that but its true its a myth we sold out all league games

They were a bunch of anti-glory hunting fuckers in the 3rd division.

We were down to between 15 and 19 thousand most weeks in the late 80's.
