Chelsea,a warning for our future support?

For everyone praising our support, we were shocking in the second half v QPR. That's when the team really need us, not when we've just scored three goals in twelve minutes.

what did you expect, we all thought wed messed it up again, I nearly had a heart attack :)

It's in the blood, and as us older ones can all relate to "we were there when we were shit" scenarios for the rest of our lives, our recent history tells that very story,34000 sell out every home game in the third tier of English football, that statistic for a start will never ever be bettered by any club in this country, ever,no matter how many more big clubs slip down the tables in years to come.

I hope the 34,000 will be beaten,by the rags being in that division.

All the time, you can't knock city fans support for their club!
im just not pretending were something were not we shouldnt be giving it the big un when guaranteed at southampton and qpr it will be back to hearing a pin drop bet if u go on a saints forum after the game there will be this exact thread in reverse !
How is supporting your team giving it the big un! I remember listening to city fans with belief in their hearts still before agueros goal went in last game of season!! Admittedly not all city fans have that faith!!
This entire thread is about city fans bigging up our support about how amazing and vocal we are ,well there is a difference between turning up in numbers and being a vocal support anyone would think teams coming to coms experience a napoli/poznan fortress of noise, the only reason our home record is so impressive is down to the quality of the team when the team was average we didnt exaclty push them over the line or help them to those vital extra points with our loud and vocal support did we no? we sit there in silence expecting to be entertained exactly what the op was saying he didnt want but its already like that in 90% of the games we play

Had a great day yesterday, took my youngest, showed him a proper City day out.

I could not believe how poor in noise terms the Chelsea support was.As an older Blue I can remember Chelsea being one of the noisiest set of fans around but yesterday was pathetic from them.1984 Friday night game at MR a prime example

Got me thinking, could this ever happen to our support after a few years of success - like the Rags,Arsenal etc, more like going to the theatre expecting to be entertained?

Must admit its not where I want City to go.When 1 - 0 down my lad was distraught - had to give him a lesson in dealing with adversity but to be honest he has not known it with City!

It's an exception to the rule if we ever have a good atmosphere at home and we're only fairly good away from home most of the time.

Let's not get carried away with how good we are, loads of clubs are as good and better than us.

-- Mon Aug 13, 2012 3:44 pm --

We didn't sell out 34000 every home game in the third division. We averaged 28000.

They go on as if Manchester is right next to Birmingham and London is miles away, the distance wasn't very far for both teams. It was the perfect location, maybe not the prefect stadium though.

Cheers good read,didnt expect that.
A number of the Chelsea posters seem to get my point, they were awesome in their day but yesterday I could not believe it.Some cant even see that One Step Beyond sung by us was a pisstake after our game at their place!
A few deriding our support which is very Rag Like,no one who knows football and watched us follow our team through years of failure in a city where your rivals win everthing in sight would say that.
40,000 plus every week without a trophy for 35 years says it all as regards City fans loyalty.

I will hold my hands up and say fair play for your support yesterday. Get the sense that it was a bit of a knees up for you lot after winning the league and why not?

If your success continues and on yesterday's showing that looks likely to happen, I don't think you will be treating Charity Shields with the same enthusiasm a decade down the line but we will see eh?

I think some of you are getting a bit carried away with how good your support is typically, I can't remember the last time you brought the full allocation to Chelsea, even when it's a top of the league clash and you haven't exactly marked yourselves out vocally and have taken less than some smaller clubs. Mind you, for some reason the COMS isn't one of the places we make much of a racket either.

Personally preferred Maine Road every day of the week - some great memories there for Chelsea fans. 1984, 1989 and even the last ever game there was a good crack (slightly more 'notable' Chelsea support there that day).

We get a lot of stick for our attendances in the 80's and 90's and if you look at our home attendances they weren't great but away from home we were one of the best supported teams in the land in terms of numbers and noise. We are still decent for league away games but sadly the atmosphere at Stamford Bridge has declined massively - although to be honest that seems to be the case for home grounds all over the Premier League.

Looking forward to next season, think we have a way to go on yesterday's showing.

Chelsea were making no noise yesterday until their first goal went in. City showed support right from the start and all the way through! One of the things I love about city fans, Loud...Proud...Loyal!!
against the big teams or when we might win something

What is your fucking gripe today eh ?

Pulled my thread to bits, and still fucking moaning

To be fair, our home attendances were starting to fall to around 23-24k even with large away followings that season. They picked up again when the results picked up. It's a myth that we sold out most of our matches in the second division. Don't get me wrong, our support was excellent though.

My uncle was getting free tickets sent to him before match days

Well City fucking owe me then as I had a season ticket I shall make enquiries and find out if thats true, free tickets my arse

Sorry to hurt your feelings mate. My Uncle may of lied, he didnt renew his season ticket that year and he reckoned random tickets got posted for games not sold out. Now about your arse?

Dont get me wrong Im loving the success but Im a bit gutted because I know I will have to stop going when we become everything I despise about the rags. Arrogance, cockneys and prawn sarnies. Couldnt sit with 60k of these muppits every week

What? Its not how others are its how are you and if you are the same, then tens of thousands will be as well. So those with similar attitudes and knowledge to yourself will always be the majority. City fans will always be level headed, loyal and with the best of gallows humor. Geez, when we went 3-1 up the MCFC OK song started, well never forget where we came from and what we have been through.
