Chelsea - FA Cup SF | Post-Match Thread

i think i feel better this morning and the pressure been lifted that the we had to do the quadruple ?
it was never going to happen and the truth is the squad players has let pep down by not turning up when asked to play

from here on in anything we win will be amazing even if its only the title i will be happy with bread and butter
we need a transfer window to sort out next season. 2 strikers, left back, youth being added, and i think we will be right

good luck to chelsea ? but you know when your looking for a goal and the other team time waste with fake injuries
you can fuck off because you really did let your team down yesterday

Still feel aggrieved as it was a great opportunity to complete the quadruple should we have beaten Chelski.

Can’t really blame them for time wasting or acting ‘professional’ in the last 15mins as most teams would have done that with a FA cup final at stake & taking out the heat of the game not that we ever looked like scoring.

Like many Blues felt the writing was on the wall when I saw that team line up against Chelsea. Surely Pep must have known their threat of pace with Werner, Mount & Ziyech would be a large factor so why play Canceló & Mendy to neutralise this where Walker & Zinny have shown to be far more effective.

Our midfield getting overrun was plain to see with Fernie & Rodri needing help. Possibly moving Cancelo into midfield to assist would have helped but then again Sterling, Ferran & Jesus were woeful upfront against a very organised Chelsea side.

For all Pep genius.

Our best form is pretty much always when we lose big players for large parts, and the team pretty much picks it self.

We lose KDB,Gundog produces some of the best form of his City career....... that good.

La Porte out injured ,Dias and Stones form an amazing partnership and go a dozen games without even conceding a goal.

Then as soon as La Porte got fit he started fucking about with the solid defense again. Low and behold we start conceding goals again.

Same with KDB, when he returned from his last injury he was clearly unfit, But Pep didn't give a fuck, playing him religiously straight away not match fit he sacrificed the greater good of the team that had previously been playing really well ,instead of just slowly bringing him back.

When we lose Mendy and have a make shift left back also.

The morning after the night befere, and having calmed down and gathered my thoughts, I've come to the conclusion, that performance and selection was turd.
Eight changes, similar to the week before against Leeds, same shit show and result.
Double pivot, resulting in Kev running himself into the ground and subsequent injury, worse than the result itself.
Two out of form fullbacks, one you can potentially carry in a game, but not two, their fullbacks will never have an easier game.
The front three were absolutely useless, I'm struggling for one positive from them, none of them played in their strongest position, apart from constantly being offside or sat on his arse or running away from goal, what does Gabby do. Sterlings form and lack of confidence is a major concern, he's supposedly in contract negotiations, he could be the first player in history to go from £300k per week to £19.50. Then we have the hologram that is Torres, new country and surrounding doesn't excuse a total lack of effort and commitment.
Why didn't Pep make changes, we were allowed 5 subs, we used only two and one of them was forced with Kevs injury, we've gotta go strong against Villa where anything less than a win will get arses twitching, it's getting to the business end of the season and we can't afford any more mass changes or playing out of form players on reputation alone.
I find it astonishing that Pep, who is Ranieri on steroids when it comes to rotation.

Has an in game aversion to ever making substitutions.

Really never understand this.

The most frustrating thing about Sterling is that we know he is a talented player with a lot of ability. The other year he was fantastic. I think he needs to see a shrink or something.

My confidence in the pre match thread was totally shot to sh!t.

Big game against villa now. No messing about, strongest available team and get the 3 points.

Do not want to finish the season the way we started it...

Pep is quite arrogant at times, and bringing on a sub means he is having to concede that he was wrong in his team selection. This is the problem with big egos.

Fairly obvious why he selected the XI he did. And if we win the next two games, his selection will be vindicated

Maybe seeing a shrink is a tad dramatic, but he certainly seems to have a mental block at the moment. He can’t even do the basic things right. His drop-off has been nothing short of astonishing, he’s certainly lost of bargaining power for his new contract.
