Chelsea - FA Cup SF | Post-Match Thread

Good point about the lack of substitutions. I also thought Pep didn't really show his usual passion yesterday on the touchline almost as if it was just another game to get out of the way. The thing that gets me though is, if it's not a priority why bother getting all the way to the semis. Do what Liverpool did and put the kids out from round 3 if that's the case. Take nothing away from Chelsea however, it was a drab affair to say the least but they got their tactics spot on in addition to a dire display by several of our players who's names are already mentioned.
Exactly this, if you are not going to compete to win then might as well throw the game in the early rounds why wait for a semi final?

I’m agreeing that he isn’t performing. Neither did Bernardo last season.. Aguero when he’s been fit these past 18 months.. and countless other world class players for other teams.

I just don’t like the nature of the shit on here.. there is absolutely no denial from me that he is out of form but at the same time not a shred of evidence that he isn’t trying.. if anything he’s trying too hard in the wrong ways.

Actually I think that is my gripe. He is trying and is being labelled disinterested and greedy for trying to negotiate his contract. It just always seems personal with him. Not sure why.
H e is trying, to sum tune he is trying, VERY trying, what you forgot to mention when you were telling us about how good he is with his 20 goals a season, what you forgot to tell us is,he NEEDS 40 CHANCES. to score 20 goals.

Not funny anymore, two seasons running we have failed to turn up for the FA Cup Semi.
Is the FA Cup semi always within the same week as the champions league 1/4 finals? Cos if so, I think laughter is gonna be at a premium going forwards.

Fuck me, what a bunch of petty, self entitled, drama queens we have become. There isn't a fanbase in the world that wouldn't swap with us. There isn't a player in world football who wouldn't salivate at the prospect of winning the medals we are challenging for over the next few weeks.

We've got this far by rotation, a remarkable sequence of results. Win after win. A great season, the likes of which we've never seen before. Barca would swap their domestic cup win for a shot at the CL. The rags would swap their toy town cup semi for the League title. The scousers would swap a month of Giro's for 4th. Fucking 4th. Now, that is pathetic. FOURTH. And would anyone wanna be a Tarquin for the next decade?

We lost a game of football FFS.

Move on, have a nice Sunday dinner and get fucking real.

We never win at home and we never win away.

MCFC OK.
Good post. Pep has done unbelievably well with this team to get us to compete in every competition, like you said every fan would swap with us.

Well if the FA Cup is lower down the priorities, play some of the youngsters in the earlier rounds.

Had many a weekend ruined in the old days as losing always put me in a bad mood on Sunday, and believe me it happened a lot..just can not comprehend how so called City fans know better than Pep.. FFS we lost a game, mainly because of rotation..Stop criticising our players.. I would love nothing more than Raheem finding his best form and Torres,Mendy to reach their potential..they play for City, support them, because in my eyes that is what a supporter should do.It is a marriage, support them all through thick and thin.If you cant do that fuck off and become a rag.

So realistic, it's uncomfortable

With Sterling, it's undeniable that his form has deteriorated dramatically in just a few months (think in contrast how well he played against Lampard's Chelsea in January) but I have come to believe that some of the criticism of him is rooted in racism. Why? It's in large part because he is persistently accused of being lazy, which is a classic racist trope directed at blacks. As I have said repeatedly on forums in addition to this one, Sterling is capable of instant control, sublime dribbling skills and terrific shooting, and at the same time of appalling inability to control the ball, hopeless attempts to dribble past players, and incredible misses when presented with simple chances in front of goal. The word for that is inconsistency: laziness has nothing to do with it, and as any honest observer would admit Sterling tries if anything too hard to make up for his failings during the course of a match.
WHAT A LOAD OF UTTER SHITE.

Yep, for sure. The tricky bit I guess is at that point you’ve no idea whether you’re gonna be even in the CL 1/4 finals, but I can see merit with what you say.
