Chelsea - FA Cup SF | Post-Match Thread

We should care because with the wages that they are on, they are almost impossible to get rid of until the end of the contract. Therefore, they can have a serious impact on the team, its performance, its ability to be able to afford replacements, as well as general moral for years to come.
This is your takeaway from the loss?

Sure, the fa cup is more prestigious than UCL. Poor and unknown teams like AC Milan, Real MAdrid, Barcelona, Bayern...must suffer a lot because they wiil never win a FA Cup....

Losing sucks, but to even compare FA Cup or a Derby to winning the EPL or UCL is just mental.
No clue ... obviously a fan from abroad

Champions League represents everything that is wrong with football. Its designed for top clubs to sell shirts.

Yet some here are loving it!

FA Cup represents genuine football IMO.

this for me. The rotation players coming in just aren't up to it, and it shows. We play like a completely different side
I'm not saying the rotating players aren't up to it, though some are clearly out of form, but six or seven changes is too disruptive however good the incoming players are.

Just got in from work saw bits of the game whilst working, from the bits I saw it was obvious to me the team and individual players were either not up for it or good enough. Read about 10 pages of this forum and some are saying it was a worthwhile sacrifice to progress in the Champions league. Well I am not so sure we will get past PSG if we cant stop conceding goals to fast breakaways. As much as any other supporter I would like to win the Champions League but I have my worries. Pochettino's tactic will be to tell Mbappe to stay on the half way line and wait for Neymar to pass a ball for you to run onto if you don't get a shot away look for support arriving because the other midfielders have been told once the forward pass is on they will easily arrive before Citys slow defensive midfielders. I have a bad feeling ror this game and I am usually upbeat about our chances in most games. Going to watch the last half hour of the Gillingham game to remind me of how far we have come and remind myself not to be such an entitled twat ;-)

Why not give Pep a call before next Season and tell him not to bother playing any team in either the FA Cup or the League Cup and just concentrate on the CL and Prem eh? Really am struggling to comprehend your post that the two English Cup comps are 'distractions'.
Of course he should play a team in those competitions. Shouldn’t be our strongest though, if we are still in premier league contention and ECL contention.

Games like this are a good reminder of us in desperate need for a striker, and a left back.

Same goes. But that was inexcusable, like he’d had something on his mind all game. Was one of the worst performances I can
Remember from a City player and that’s not hyperbole
At times as well it seems he wasnt even giving it 100% something I’ve never faulted him for in the past , I’ve always felt he puts a shift in whether he plays well or not .
Something’s definitely not right with him at the moment , I don’t know whether he’s just totally lacking confidence, or some personal issues .
I thought this time out of the team would light a fire under him , but it’s been the opposite.
He can’t have any complaints about not playing at the moment.
I really like him , I feel he gets way too much stick and is a nice lad and been brilliant for us on the whole .
But some worrying signs from him lately .
