Chelsea fans throwing missiles from South Stand 3rd tier

This thread is just a continuation, of a recurring theme how the club has completely mismanaged the stadium and put profit at the centre of all their decision-making.

We have had the creation of an oversized family stand and eviction of long standing fans from the North stand. A decision which has spawned the emptyhad jibes. Eviction of fans to create corporate areas around 222/223. A cheaply constructed South Stand Level 3, which is a nightmare to enter/leave, not fully weathered and is so cheaply built you can still see the fire stopping stickers on the exposed plasterboard.

The installation of additional seating to level one only to be removed when it was determined more money could be received from larger advertising hoardings, again relocating fans, decreasing the capacity of the lower tier and making the fans more remote from the pitch (hardly helping in improving the atmosphere).

20 years at the stadium they still have not configured the ground to improve the safety of home supporters at cup matches, with the solution further exacerbated by installing corporate in the middle of level 2, with no forward planning for future matches (Millwall in the cup) or changes in crowd behaviours.

The ground is an absolute mess and the club is fully culpable for that.

Great post mate. I agree the ground is a mess. There’s been no thought whatsoever into the placement of fans or security. It’s all about increasing corporate.

The finish and snagging on SSL3 has always been bad and has never been finished properly.

The area of the ground where money has been spent bar the new and numerous corporate areas and lounges is the new drinking section and bar at the back of SSL1, behind Block 116. I have to give the club credit for doing a good job of that.

Let’s see what the club are proposing to do with the North stand expansion. As we keep on saying, hopefully it won’t be long before it’s made public.

Emailed this to the club, I'm not holding my breath, but we have to start somewhere.

I am a long-term season ticket holder at City - South Stand Level 1, block 116.

I have recently attended the EFL cup tie against Liverpool & Sundays FA Cup tie against Chelsea. On both occasions 116 has been subject to objects been thrown into the home supporters, from the away supporters above us. These including coins, lighters, plastic bottles, liquids and disgustingly, spit.

Last night was particularly bad for spitting, after City scored the 3rd goal. There is clear video evidence on-line of a group of Chelsea fans in Level 2 CONTINUOUSLY splitting on City fans below them IN FULL VIEW of the adjacent stewards. The club stewards & police did NOTHING to stop this which I find baffling, very annoying and shameful.

It seems City are currently failing in their care of duty to its own supporters and I have no confidence in attending any future Cup games at The Etihad when there is a large contingent of away supporters placed above the City fans. When you consider that the perpetrator of the injuries inflicted upon the poor girl at the Liverpool game has yet to be named & shamed, it feels like City fans are fair game whilst away supporters get clean away with shameful behaviour.
  • When is the club going to come out and defend its supporters and lay blame where it belongs?
  • When are the club going to give the same level of security to home fans that away fans enjoy?
  • Why are big followings of rival teams allowed to leave the ground at the same time as City fans? Especially when they have been engaging in unlawful actions?
  • Why do I, as a City fan, have to keep one eye on what’s being thrown from above, for my own safety?
  • Why is policing at City so passive, when it is clearly visible that away fans are continuously engaging in unlawful behaviour?
The club find it easy to issue joint statements with Liverpool, without taking any action against Liverpool supporters hurling objects into home fans. The club issued a statement (rightly) condemning alleged “homophobic” chants against Chelsea but made no comment to condemn the appalling behaviour of the Chelsea fans in Level 2, which in my view was the root cause of the inappropriate chants.

The club are running the very real risk of alienating its supporters, who are fed up with being treated with contempt on security issues, as described above. Perhaps you could put my mind at rest that me and my partner will be safe attending the next cup game, likely to be Arsenal, who will no doubt be given Level 2 & Level 3 as Chelsea were? Or do I look forward to further spit & phlegm being rained down upon us, by those above?

Your comments would be appreciated.
Doubt you will get a response. The club don’t give a shit about City fans, legacy, tourist or new. I have emailed and actually phoned contacts before and got fuck all back. Here’s the thing, they “work” for City, that’s about it, they aren’t fans, so not particularly vested in our well being or our concerns.

I emailed the club along the same lines as this after the Celtic game when the top half of Block 105 which were all Celtic fans.

I said there was no segregation, I quoted their own Ts&Cs to them about not selling tickets to visiting supporters in the home ends, told them Celtic fans were giving shit to City fans front and to the side of them all game, told them Celtic fans were joining in with IRA chants all second half.

I actually did get a phone call from the club asking more details on it all…

Their response was to then move me from my seat for Champions League games so I’m further away from away fans in 105 for CL games.

If they don't respond, or if Luke McDonnell in partucular doesn't respond, to the legitimate H&S concerns of a seasoncard holder, then I'll escalate it. I'll go fucking legal if necessary. The club are failing in their duty of care to all "customers" at these major events. The club will have circa 50,000 people through its gates at least 25 times this season. Huge numbers. Staggering really, that this situation has been allowed to develop.

They seem to be ok "talking" to City fans. Or even gripping them and chucking them out.

Showsec used to grip plenty. Smokers etc
Agreed mate, they seem fine to on the one hand be utter cunts to Blues, and on the other hand letting opposition fans getting away with all sorts

I was in my usual place in 116 and there was a group of about 8 gobby Chelski dickheads giving it large in L2 and chucking stuff. After the third goal one in particular was spitting continuously the dirty ****. Personally I rather be hit with a coin/lighter/chair/brick than have some dirty bastards phlegm deposited on my head. This spitting (common assault in the eyes of the law) was in full view of stewards & police who did NOTHING to stop it. It was this spitting that enraged City fans which then sparked the Rent Boy chants in 116/117.

Meanwhile, there was a Blue early in the first half on the aisle between 116/117 who was complaining to a steward that his 8 year old lad had been hit by something chucked from above, he was greeted with a shrug of the shoulders and told to get back to his seat. Within a couple of minutes, a senior steward was despatched to find the COMPLAINANT, because he'd been overly aggressive towards the steward. Fucking shameful.

What the actual fuck is going on with our club?
When are the club going to stop pussying about and stand by OUR supporters?
When is OUR security going to be placed at a similar level to visiting supporters?
Why are large away followings (who have caused obvious disorder) allowed to leave at the same time as us?
Why is passive policing allowing CONTINUOUS law breaking & personal injury to occur without taking the culprits out?
Why is our club very quick to condemn its own supporters but say NOTHING about the behaviour of the away support?
If Henry fucking Winter has seen the throwing of objects and commented on it, where are the observations of City's OWN security team?

Just as importantly, why do we, as a supporter base, put up with this shit?
Well said. I was in 117 yesterday and had to put up with this shit all game and I complained to a steward and they did fuck all about it. The Club are leaving themselves wide open to legal action from supporters who have been injured and/or harassed by the actions of opposition supporters and MCFCs lack of action in dealing with it.
Perhaps we should put a banner up in the South Stand and shame the club into doing something.
