Obviously I feel your pain and you’ve put your points across well there but the best you can hope for is a mealy mouthed wishy washy reply offering you no real assurances whatsoever and maybe a voucher entitling you to 25% off your next purchase in the club shop.Emailed this to the club, I'm not holding my breath, but we have to start somewhere.
I am a long-term season ticket holder at City - South Stand Level 1, block 116.
I have recently attended the EFL cup tie against Liverpool & Sundays FA Cup tie against Chelsea. On both occasions 116 has been subject to objects been thrown into the home supporters, from the away supporters above us. These including coins, lighters, plastic bottles, liquids and disgustingly, spit.
Last night was particularly bad for spitting, after City scored the 3rd goal. There is clear video evidence on-line of a group of Chelsea fans in Level 2 CONTINUOUSLY splitting on City fans below them IN FULL VIEW of the adjacent stewards. The club stewards & police did NOTHING to stop this which I find baffling, very annoying and shameful.
It seems City are currently failing in their care of duty to its own supporters and I have no confidence in attending any future Cup games at The Etihad when there is a large contingent of away supporters placed above the City fans. When you consider that the perpetrator of the injuries inflicted upon the poor girl at the Liverpool game has yet to be named & shamed, it feels like City fans are fair game whilst away supporters get clean away with shameful behaviour.
The club find it easy to issue joint statements with Liverpool, without taking any action against Liverpool supporters hurling objects into home fans. The club issued a statement (rightly) condemning alleged “homophobic” chants against Chelsea but made no comment to condemn the appalling behaviour of the Chelsea fans in Level 2, which in my view was the root cause of the inappropriate chants.
- When is the club going to come out and defend its supporters and lay blame where it belongs?
- When are the club going to give the same level of security to home fans that away fans enjoy?
- Why are big followings of rival teams allowed to leave the ground at the same time as City fans? Especially when they have been engaging in unlawful actions?
- Why do I, as a City fan, have to keep one eye on what’s being thrown from above, for my own safety?
- Why is policing at City so passive, when it is clearly visible that away fans are continuously engaging in unlawful behaviour?
The club are running the very real risk of alienating its supporters, who are fed up with being treated with contempt on security issues, as described above. Perhaps you could put my mind at rest that me and my partner will be safe attending the next cup game, likely to be Arsenal, who will no doubt be given Level 2 & Level 3 as Chelsea were? Or do I look forward to further spit & phlegm being rained down upon us, by those above?
Your comments would be appreciated.
Send them to Mary DsGive them the family/north stand and keep them in until all City fans have gone.
All yours mate..
I take your point but this isn't about the "matchday experience" in any way, shape or form.Obviously I feel your pain and you’ve put your points across well there but the best you can hope for is a mealy mouthed wishy washy reply offering you no real assurances whatsoever and maybe a voucher entitling you to 25% off your next purchase in the club shop.
City don’t give a fuck about the “match day experience” of ordinary fans. If you were a corporate guest it’d be a whole different ball game. They view ordinary blues as soft targets …. easy sacrificial lambs to use to virtue signal and underline their intolerance to bigotry blah blah blah. Meanwhile in our world scousers and cockneys are throwing missiles and piss at us with impunity.
The reports from City and the media are all about the girl whose head was cut v LiverpoolI take your point but this isn't about the "matchday experience" in any way, shape or form.
It's about the HEALTH & SAFETY of everyone that goes through the turnstiles at our club.
I mentioned the numbers in a previous post. Circa 1.25 million people will visit The Etihad this season, probably more. There are not many places on earth that have that footfall in only 9 months. The numbers are staggering.
The fact is that people are getting injured, spat upon, kids being frightened to death, but NOTHING is being done to stop it, as is proved because its happened twice in a few weeks.
Not a great business plan that.
Very true, a lid has been kept on the scale of the missile throwing. Hope you get it sorted mate and the imbecile who chucked it does time. The reports from City and the media are all about the girl whose head was cut v Liverpool
Yet she was not the only one hit
My lad was hit by a bottle also at the same match.
I have written to City and they are investigating the incident
They sent me a still picture from CCTV asking to pinpoint where my son was, I hope to locate and follow the bottle
We shall see
Yeah that’s what I meant really I was thinking Stretford End/Kop/Gladys Street. The away end always used to be at the opposite side of the ground mostly. I always look at the lower tier away bit from where I sit in SS3 and it looks like hardly any segregation. I’m not sure what the answer is to this really as the club probably don’t want away fans walking past the main entrance or anywhere close to the Family Stand. I know they want coaches close to turnstiles too. I was really surprised at the lack of policing outside the ground at the end of the game and on the walk back to town yesterday.Leeds utd . Arsenal. Utd.. Villa. Southampton.
Quite a few although some are not the main singing areas.
