Chelsea (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Agreed. However. I wouldn't even consider it conservative, just not suicidal.
All of our worst performamces/results are when Kovacic isn't in the starting 11. It's like groundhog day. The balance was all wrong today like it has been previously. They ran thru us at will first half (so easy to play thru our midfield) and probably should have scored when ederson rescued us twice. And then had a great chance in the second half (great double save by Ederson). He was very good today thankfully or we’d have been beaten

Alvarez/Akanji in midfield doest work. Pep needs to end this madness now. We have no more lives left!!

Lad next to me when he scored said "why did he never do that for us?". I try not to get into this stuff at games but I had to turn to him and say "what, score a goal?!"

You'd think he was Benjani the way some go on about him.
Lol. Bless em. They know not what they speak of. 100+ goals. He was class for us more often than not. Important goals too.

4 points off top with a game in hand is hardly the end of the world but reading some of the negativity on here, admittedly, I’m new to this forum but heavens, get a grip…you‘re City FFS
It’s only because of the incredibly high standards we have come to expect from the manager and the team.

Being critical of our views/expectations is easy when your own team have won nothing for a decade….

That was a frustrating game and as has been said, the lineup was strange.

Alvarez and Akanji are playing unfamiliar roles and it shows. They are not good enough to play it at this level, especially when we have players on the pitch and bench who can play the role better.

Phil is proven in that role and if Kovacic is fit, play him next to Rodri.
Our problem, and it has been for a while, becomes when Rodri is pushing forward and we lose possession, teams just play the ball into the huge hole that is left behind him.

We gifted them two or three good chances in the first half, one which they took because Walker completely leaves Sterling free. You can't leave him like that, I know he can miss a chance but he was never missing that one!

We weren't playing that badly though, but Erling needs to finish both headed chances he had, the second chance was a terrible miss!

We played a lot better second half, especially when Bernardo came on we and should've won it really, but when you're playing a team who is just focused on defending and up against bent officials too, it was always going to be tough.

We get everyone's best game so we shouldn't be surprised, but we didn't lose and
we have to move on now and make sure we finish off the month in style as we have a tough March coming up.

Before the season I thought it was highly unlikely that we could win the Treble again. Now I think it could happen. Amazingly, people still underestimate Pep and the players.

Yeah, if Raz manages to smash it in from the tight angle with his left foot then fair enough, but don’t let him come inside like that, amateur as you say.
100%. Play the percentages. Walker has played with him/we've seen enough of him as fans. On his left foot i reckon he has a 1 in 10 chance of scoring (im probably being kind). Let him cut inside on his right and the chances of him scoring significantly improve.. Very poor play from Walker

Nothing? It might not match your record but 4 FA Cups and 5 Community Shields would be something most fans would love.Hubris from you.

Apologies if it’s already been covered earlier in the thread, but there were quite a few fisticuffs on the Ashton New Road after the game. Group of Chelsea fans gobbing off all the way down past the buses and beyond, who eventually ended up getting lamped by a gathering number of City fans coming up alongside them. The biggest mouth was still gobbing off even after he’d been socked in the chops a few times.

Exactly, and it's not like Raz did anything dazzling to shed Walker.

Each to their own. I dont think we have played well for much of the season. Been a little bit better since New Year to be fair. Writings on the wall for me. We can afford no more slip ups with Anfield away to come…

Served them right for gobbing off. I don't care if someone is head to foot in away colours or stone island. Just be respectful.

Kyle for the first goal was a shocker. He could have let Sterling keep going out wide and smother the threat. Someone with his experience that was unbelievable
The problem was that Sterling was wide open, on his own, in acres of space and Walker is nowhere. He turns and has to play catch up and just can't stop his run when Sterling cuts inside.
Pep was furious and he should be, that was Sunday morning defending!
