Chelsea (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

We have improved beyond measure going forward in recent weeks and the defence is looking better in there one vs ones.
Khusonov - rookie mistake but he is a rookie...he also mae a good block a few minutes later and he will learn as he goes....plenty to be positive about with him despite the horror mistake.
Marmoush gives us some real raw pace upfront (different to Haaland and Doku). He was very good technically and considering it was his first game he looked very good.
Gvardiol was excellent in most things that he did - especially composed and a good attacking threat. Still needs to get closer to the winger and stop some of those crosses.

Great to see Stones back - maybe wishful thinking but I really hope we can keep him fit.

Gundo is still an issue in midfield losing the ball in dangerous areas whether its with poor control, turning when he shouldnt be or just getting out muscled.

Foden - excellent...very composed finish, he seems to be getting his mojo back again

Lots of very hard games coming up so that was a much needed win

41 pts - were straying up!!

Edit - bernardo again ran himself into the ground...his form has been poor this season but the effort never stops.....I thought he was very good all over the pitch

Much improved from Wednesday and a good recovery after the first few minutes. Enjoyed the more direct style and Marmoush did well.

But it’s still obvious where we need to strengthen.

Chelsea were disappointing. The next two matches will be a proper test for us.

FotMob's rating of Khusanov: 5.5

A bit harsh.

What was it after the yellow?

He came into the game, looked more composed, showing resilience needed, under A LOT of pressure. (Liked encouragement from Ed & Gundo)

Yes the error(s) poor, but thrown in

2 key defensive actions I recall that saved high Xg chances by my observation.

86% passing 40/47, 1 block, 1 clearance, 2 recoveries

I'm on holiday.
And like I've said before I gave my ticket to a mate this season.
My dad's ticket is next to mine I put his on the exchange a couple of weeks ago as he's gone to watch buxton.
I just got a text off the lad who has my seat.
The club have sold my dads ticket to a Chelsea fan.
Lucky my mate is chilled.
If I'd been sat there I would have gone mental and probably banned.
This has taken the gloss off a great result and proper got my mad up.
Anyone any idea who or where I complain to as I'm not letting this one go.
Up the blues

Much better, nightmare debut for Khusanov, but he will get better, impressed with Mamoush
??

Mistake aside (communication definitely an issue here), and watch Akanjis movement for that as well, he saved us from a certain goal, made some important interceptions, won duels. 6/10, decent. It was only his debut as well.

Bernie’s energy levels today?

More like it, still some issues and weird subs but we have fight and also show we are willing to adjust to get points on the board.

Khusanov balls of steel for not crumbling after that start, that will make him a champion in time. Also perfect management from Pep in that situation letting him do something good before being taken off

Gundo and Kova very lucky that prime fucking Bernie turned up, and imagine if he can channel that level for the rest of the season! But we absolutely can't carry Gundogan anymore, I can't remember the last time we have had someone so out of their depth on the pitch regularily?

Marmoush will be mint. Haaland is mint. Foden scoring but still not as involved as I'd like him to be but every goal helps and I think we will see him back to his best soon.

Gvardiol amazing for the duration of the match. Huge credit to Matheus Nunes. Runs his socks off and is slowly growing into a role he is not used too. Maybe just maybe the individual mistakes will be fewer and the positive contributions will multiply over time and suddenly we are looking at one of the first players on the teamsheet? He is a warrior.

Bang on pal

greay yo see us go direct and make Erling more involved

Ive hammered him for getting bullied because he can play like that today and it should be the norm ...

A completely deserved victory. Gvardiol was excellent, and I’d especially highlight Nunes and Berna. Marmoush looks like he’ll be good, although his work rate didn’t seem the best yet. We’ll see as he still needs more training with the team.

Merson will be disappointed. Think we have to stick to this style now. Plays to the strengths of Foden, Marmoush, Haaland. Also gives us more presence in midfield with the 3 instead of 2 in there. Hats off to Bernardo absolute legend. Also thought Gundo was excellent today, played some really good through balls in for Haaland. And we’ve got a real player on our hands in Marmoush - better version of Alvarez.
With the threat of that long ball, it's stops the high line against us, meaning if they press us too high up the pitch it stretches them and we cut through them. We need more varied play, we have become far too predictable
