Where’s all the fannies from the pre-match thread. I swear there’s more every week!
just needs to calm down and know he cant intercept everythingHe needs to improve his positioning though, the way he got done my Madueke at the end was not good, superb going forward though.
Safe for a while, it’s down at around 34 points now the average needed to stay up.Haven't read through all the pages so I don't know if it has been mentioned yet but we have now reached the magical 40 points mark so are safe for another season!
We still look light in central midfield and struggled for a few minutes after their goal, but we adjusted by puttingKovacicBernardo a bit deeper andweFoden kept Palmer from influencing the game.
Not feeling great at the minute due to personal circumstances so had to remind myself before the game not to ever rely on football to lift your mood but when that Foden goal went in I celebrated like we'd just won the CL in the last minute of added time!
Haha fair playI'm not a mod..obviously..but a post as good as this.
I'd say about a million times
Very nice of you to say. Thankyou.Hope things look up soon for you :)
Yep. I feel this too.Think Phil has final got the southgate effect out of his head. Phil was always poor when coming back from England but the way southgate treat him in the Euros seems to have affected him more than usual
Agree with most of your post, but I thought Gundog had one of his better games today. He didn't move much beyond attacking midfield during attacks, & solidified defensive midfield with Kovacic. This wasn't leaving as many gaping midfield holes as we've become used to seeing. We have improved beyond measure going forward in recent weeks and the defence is looking better in there one vs ones.
Khusonov - rookie mistake but he is a rookie...he also mae a good block a few minutes later and he will learn as he goes....plenty to be positive about with him despite the horror mistake.
Marmoush gives us some real raw pace upfront (different to Haaland and Doku). He was very good technically and considering it was his first game he looked very good.
Gvardiol was excellent in most things that he did - especially composed and a good attacking threat. Still needs to get closer to the winger and stop some of those crosses.
Great to see Stones back - maybe wishful thinking but I really hope we can keep him fit.
Gundo is still an issue in midfield losing the ball in dangerous areas whether its with poor control, turning when he shouldnt be or just getting out muscled.
Foden - excellent...very composed finish, he seems to be getting his mojo back again
Lots of very hard games coming up so that was a much needed win
41 pts - were straying up!!
Edit - bernardo again ran himself into the ground...his form has been poor this season but the effort never stops.....I thought he was very good all over the pitch
In fairness to Pep, he was clearly signalling for Ederson to go long (just prior to Haaland's goal) and said post match that the midfielders needed to be better at looking for Marmoush's runsVery important 3 points that, great result.
If Pep comes away from that today though and still refuses to set us up to play more directly, particularly against the better sides, he deserves the sack. Been calling for it for months, feel like we reluctantly did it in bits today more because it was forced upon us by it worked a charm. All 3 goals from direct football, we had at least 2 other really good chances from direct football too. It utilised the strengths of our attacking players and its so easy to do too so bloody use it!
Today felt a bit like who could gift the opposition the win more than who could win the game themselves and for once, we got out done on that after such a strong start from us too. Will take it all day. That will be the easiest game we'll have for a month so need to build on this, beat Brugge midweek and find that next gear for tougher games ahead.
