Chelsea (H) Post Match Thread

Why was there so many empty seats , yet i have been trying for months to get a ticket and the planner on the club website has had it sold out months ago .
Everytime i checked it was still sold out ,hard to believe that so many who had tickets just decided to give it a miss on the day .
Its a bit frustrating for people like me who would have been there had the tickets been available

I don’t know. There must have been at least 700-1000 empty seats today though.Maybe more.
FS was the worst but there were loads in the upper tiers too.

Maybe over protective parents not wanting to subjec their little darlings to the cold in the FS. Who knows.

Really happy with the way we played again today. Magnificent performance to end what could have been a really tough week. So much energy on that pitch again and another really good team performance with another couple of Premier League records broken to go along with the 3 points.

I must however mention the opposition. .Last year's champions were afraid to play football. That's how good we are now. I seriously hope the media slate Conte as much as they did Benitez when he employed similar tactics against us. No matter who you play there has to be some intent to beat the opposition but Chelsea just sat there and took it like a Brucie team did for Taggart all those times. I hope they refund all the treavel and ticket costs for their fans who made the trip to watch that.

That will be the media line, much as it was after both Arse games. Fact is we are just exceptionally good at nullifying teams.
Expect to see the media playing down our performances and choosing to focus on the opposition, but we really shouldn't.
Spot on mate.

Arguably Kompany, Fernandinho, Mendy or Delph and Sterling, would have strengthened our team today, not that their replacements slipped up at all.
Its good to have subdued the reigning champions so effectively, and just a pity we couldn't have got another goal, or 2, from the "thrill" viewpoint. But, these last 6 points have been a bit of a bonus - thoroughly deserved, but, I'd have settled for 3/4 points this time last week.
There's a lot more to come from this squad, and a frightening prospect that we'll probably strengthen more in the summer.

Thanks - but apparently not. Teams can turn it off and on against us at will. If we score they can suddenly up their levels and get at us. Neville seems to be setting the agenda.
Fabregas played well today and unlike him didn't down tools- tried everything but we just had all the answers. Gone are the days when Hazard turns up and is given the freedom of the park.

There was virtually a whole row empty in the Colin Bell stand. The empty seats weren't the odd one scattered around the ground, a fair few chunks together were free which is strange.

Maybe it was people who couldn’t get there because of the weather. All the train companies were still telling people not to travel today as were the highways agency.
Rows of empty seats would also make sense for people who not only sit together but travel together.

Could well be the case but it seems to be the same areas most weeks. Doesn't bother me as I'm there but if people cant get tickets I can understand peoples frustration.

I think the answer is - similar to the Emirates on Thursday - Arse said 58,420 seats sold - but crowd was probably 15,000 short.
City say they sell 54,000 + - some stay away. Very frustrating for people like you - who want to go.

If this is not outright domination of the league I don't know what else is.

What a fantastic week it has been! A trophy in the cabinet and on paper two tough league games we totally dominated and six points in the bag. Our workrate, passing and pressing were superb. When a team with such talent as Chelsea are terrified of us we know we are way above anything in this league. If that last minute shot of theirs had gone in it would have been a bloody travesty!

Sorry to end on a slightly negative note but Kyle Walker has to seriously improve his concentration and passing. A few times we were coasting and keeping possession when his carelessness resulted in them breaking on us. Sort it out please!

Lots of empties everywhere. I was quite surprised given the game. Maybe the weather had put a few off travelling or trying to travel
THE blocks of empty seats annoyed me today having to watch at home on tv. Only on Thursday I was in a position to attend after a work job was cancelled last minute but sold out on the website. A few empties ok, but whole blocks/rows is galling.

Obviously there were some very good performances from the usual suspects today. Sane just gets better and better. There was one occasion where he appeared in he left back position nicking the ball off a Chelsea player. Thought Pep will be pleased with that. Bernardo really coming into his own. Love this new aggressive Bernardo where did that come from. Going to be some player next season. David well what can you say brilliant. Also though Gundog had a good game. I also thought Laporte played very well mopping up at the back. It just gets better and better. For those Chelsea fans singing about us not winning the champions league watch this space.

To be honest , i have been looking on the planner for tickets for this match for a few months and each time the planner has shown limited seats available in some parts of the ground , but when you click on the part of the ground where seats are supposedly available there is none , i have known this to happen before , but its usually down to a few tickets becoming available and getting snapped up immediately , but with the Chelsea game this has been the same for a few months now , just wondering if its possibly a glitch in the system , seems strange so many rows and seats together are unsold for a big game such as todays.

I have to totally disagree with most who thought Chelsea were crap. They were crap for a reason. We pressed them to death limiting their options and when they broke the press we picked up the runners. Defensively we were brilliant and by the middle of the 2nd half they were knackered.

Possibly the worst, most gutless performance I've ever seen by an opposition tbh. We played well enough, but frankly had it very, very easy and barely had to get above walking pace. Good to see the attackers looking lively again and it's a great 3 points, but honestly Chelsea should be ashamed of themselves for that.
I thought they were a disgrace too, but we shouldn't focus on that.

Some of our football in the first half was scintillating, the best we've played all season, and we probably deserved to be 2 or 3 ahead by half time.

In the second half we managed the game very well, and that was when chelsea were a disgrace for me, they never even tried to get level, waiting for a mistake from us to have a half hearted attack.

We were recently linked with Hazard, if that is how he plays when his manager asks him to do something different, whether he likes the role or not, I wouldn't touch him with a bargepole.
