Chelsea (H) Post-Match Thread

Don't think so. Just that their bodies can't follow it anymore. Hence lot of injuries. Pep's football is extremely demanding.
It undeniably is, but I think we have been more unlucky than not. Half or about of our dropped points are not injury related and we are weathering that aspect as good as could be expected. We will come good, I'm not a dreamer, just confident.

With all the injuries pep will need to blood more youth players or more of out first teamers will be going down injured with the amount of games we have coming up over christmas and new year.

Good 3 points that's the main thing today. Chelsea started extremely well and Lampard has got the makings of a good side there. We were not at our flowing best and too many passes going astray in the middle of the park that could have cost us. Mendy was awful. Injuries mounting up and lots of games coming in December. Hopefully injuries clear up and we also get Laporte and Sane back January.

Sadly I think you’re right but a lot of the players had international games so they’re bound to be tired. Besides, It’s hard competing against younger fitter opposition who’s mentor is Lampard. He kept himself in fantastic physical shape and you can see him molding his midfield into this type of player. As for Kante, he’s a freak of fitness and reads the game brilliantly.

It's not jut this game, it' whole season. We're not a energetic as before and our press, that was setting standards, is pretty much gone. It's average now when many clubs are trying to copy it, you barely see teams these days having to panic at the back because of our press. David can't do it anymore, Aguero is struggling to do it, Kev is trying but he gets tired almost every game as it goes further..

Kante is fantastic little player. And he iss not only the warrior, he plays good football now, dribbling, getting more and more creative, it was good move by Sarri to send him up the pitch.

Delighted with the win, it was a win at any cost game today and so to do that is all that matters but there’s plenty of concerns still. Anybody that says we don’t get any luck needs to watch that first half. How we went in at halftime ahead is a complete mystery. For the first 30 minutes they were comfortably the better side and deserved to be more than 1-0 up in truth. a complete fluke got us back in the game and turned it in our favour. Having said that, how we didn’t put the game to bed before half time after numerous errors from them at the back is exactly the problem we’ve had all season.

I have little issue with our defence today, thought Stones and Dinho were excellent, barely got any protection from midfield but both put in numerous great tackles blocks and interceptions. their attack is very dangerous, we’re going to concede chances but we handled them fairly well.

it’s our inefficiency upfront that’s the issue once more, as it has been for the last few months now.

We don’t capitalise on situations where you’d expect a goal it’s either poor finishing which is annoying and shouldn’t be happening from the world class talent we have but it’s kind of acceptable, but it’s the hesitation and poor decision making that gets up people’s backs. We seem hell bent on not shooting unless it’s an open net and there’s nobody in 10 yards to pass to, it doesn’t matter who it is they’re all guilty of it which leads me to believe it’s a tactical thing.

In addition to not taking chances our play is just far too slow and rigid at the minute, a lack of pace is really hurting our creativity but there’s also an issue with Rodri/gundogan not moving the ball as quickly and not going forward enough like Fernandinho has done for years. It’s a common trend that we’ve seen for a good portion of the season and if we don’t change it it’s going to cost us more as the season progresses.

Away from the pitch, Chelsea really do have some absolute low-life fans, kicking off all over the shop for absolutely no legitimate reason and not just handbags there were flurries of punches thrown towards the fans/stewards and no police in sight as per the norm at the Etihad nowadays.

Was also hilarious to watch a guy try and smash up a seat seemingly to throw and fail spectacularly. It was by no means all their fans and it’s wrong to label them all, some were genuinely quite decent and seemed embarrassed by the few but they certainly have a good amount of them.
