We lost the semi final of the fa because of putting the b team out ,you dont get anything for doing that
Would we be in a champions league final if we hadn’t? Nobody knows. We could end up with 3 trophies AGAIN, there’s a reason 4 have never been won ever. Yet some people would prefer to concentrate on those we haven’t won or games we’ve lost rather than what we’ve won. Odd.

Not odd , we were all disappointed then and on saturday , we are allowed to be

You make a good point. It’s one I have been thinking about and I can only give my opinion on a benefit of changing so many.

Firstly I would like to say. If it was me I would want to play with as many of the regulars.
I can be relaxed and play my game and it’s easier to fit in. Give easy passes and run about looking good. He can see that I belong in this team.

But with a changed team. I have to concentrate and think for myself and the team. I have to adapt and work and make the right decisions. I have to make myself look good without others doing it for me.
I have to carry out the game plan and help those around me carry out theirs. Their is nowhere to hide.
I guess it would show strengths and weaknesses more.

We are not too far away from having an “A” and “B” team.
I think this is what scares the football world.
City actually putting it all together.
The downside of being selected in a purely B Team, is invariably the players may not have that added edge to make you shine that little brighter.

I suppose it's similar to Messi playing for Scunthorpe against Bayern. With all respect, the Scunthorpe players won't be good enough to get the very best out of Messi, hence by his Barca comparison he'd look a poorer player.

That's why I wanted to see the very best of the rest, mixed in with the A Team players not in need of a rest. I honestly believe we'd have seen an even better Sterling in particular.

This approach would have answered more pertinent questions about the players in with a realistic chance of appearing in the final.

Another conundrum is Torres. I've heard it said that he may eventually end up being a No 9, as he seems more effective there than out wide. For all the impact he had, he might as well have been on the bench. He looked totally lost & demoralised. Perhaps this is a decision we need to make ASAP.

One thing we know for certain is that Aguero will be leaving us soon. According to Pep, next season we'll have Jesus & Delap as our first team squad strikers. We've also got Torres. Are we REALLY going into a new season with just these three as options?

This season we've managed better without strikers, but at certain points we lacked a serious goal getter to convert meagre chances against ultra defensive sides. Surely we're not allowing Sergio to leave without a 20-30 league goals per season replacement? :-|

As we reach the pinnacle of Manchester City’s 127 year history, as we stand on the cusp of the club’s greatest ever achievement, lead by an era-building revolutionary manager who is widely regarded as being the best alive, and who is moving into conversations now as the best of all time, and with arguably the best team and brightest future in the entire football world....we have conclusive proof in this thread that some people will never, ever, ever, ever, be happy, no matter what.

Its comical really.

Spot on.

it’s like they can’t just enjoy the success of the season.

how boring would it be if we won every game. You need the lows to feel the highs. Don’t we know that!

Disappointed , yes we were all disappointed but that’s not a reason to say Pep got it wrong, he had very good reasons to pick the team he did, and I would think he’s delivered enough for fans to trust him say he’s won enough to accept he had good reasons and chances are in the long run he’ll be proved to have made the right choices.
I bet those complaining would be the first to complain if we had muscle injuries and lost the c/l because he played players 4 days after PSG , but at least we won the league a few days quicker.

To be fair to them perhaps it’s just something in their personality that’s ingrained into them rather than a conscious choice.
Or perhaps you’re right and Jill will criticise peps successor (who will have an impossible job) just as much.
