They self reported, it's not exactly a witch hunt. The PL are still investigating them as well.Anyone who looks like threatening the red 3 will sadly have this crap thrown at them.

From Chelsea's statement:-
"The Club’s ownership group completed its purchase of the club on 30 May 2022. During a thorough due diligence process prior to completion of the purchase, the ownership group became aware of potentially incomplete financial reporting concerning historical transactions and other potential breaches of FA rules. Immediately upon the completion of the purchase, the Club self-reported these matters to all relevant regulators, including The FA.
"The Club has demonstrated unprecedented transparency during this process, including by giving comprehensive access to the Club’s files and historical data. We will continue working collaboratively with The FA to conclude this matter as swiftly as possible."
Is the bit in blue a pop at us, a sort of "don't look here, look over there" scam?
If you buy a stolen bike it's still a stolen bike when you own itKaveh Solhekol has been busy explaining why it wouldn't be fair on the present owners and players to do more than fine them.
Certainly sounds that way. From Chelsea's statement:-

Thanks for the info, makes more sense to me now, I thought they hadn’t reported it until a few months after the deal had gone through, now I’m wondering how the accountants passed them as accurate during the abramovich ownership, wouldn’t you think they would and probably should have spotted discrepancies as well ;)From Chelsea's statement:-

So the only 2 teams in the Premier League that are clean and do nothing wrong are United and Liverpool
The only thing that is slower than our 115 case is Kaveh's sentences.Kaveh Solhekol has been busy explaining why it wouldn't be fair on the present owners and players to do more than fine them.
Now you've got me wondering who their accountants were? Thanks for the info, makes more sense to me now, I thought they hadn’t reported it until a few months after the deal had gone through, now I’m wondering how the accountants passed them as accurate during the abramovich ownership, wouldn’t you think they would and probably should have spotted discrepancies as well ;)

Of course they should be punished. You can’t just break rules and expect wrongdoings to get written off when the ownership changes. That’s the buyer’s fault, they should ensure that they have a way to make a claim against the seller for any financial punishments received in this way or accept the risk.I don't see why Chelsea should be punished.
As the new owners were doing due diligence, before buying Chelsea, they saw the rule breaches. They immediately flagged it up.
The fact that Abrahmovitch got away with it for so long is what should be highlighted.
It shows how weak the PL and FA are. They are so frightened of upsetting the old guard they do ot act in a responsible, professional manner.
They are not fit for purpose.
