Chelsea-Liverpool, United-Leeds, Brighton-Palace all off, rest of the games on (pg 128)

I constantly question how that horrible, lying, fear mongering piece of shit rag is the most powerful piece of propaganda in the country, but, to be fair, this is probably the least egregious of their acts of influence.
It’s because the most powerful human emotion is fear, so they spin everything they can to provoke as much fear and outrage as possible

Imagine the history books had displays of thousands of people signing the national anthem or superstar footballers stood with their heads bowed in respect, military bands marching across pitches and fans each holding up a separate image of the Queen
To be able to look back in 100 years at how the biggest sport in the world came together to show its respect

What does it show to future generations to say “ well most people were pissed off as they cancelled football and most people just stayed at home playing words with friends or scrolled through TikTok “
The history books will show all that anyway regardless of what football does.

Can people stop this respect bullshit?

Everybody goes through personal losses and grief, yet football still goes on.

It is possible to mourn a person and watch a game of football. It might even give that person a temporary relief from the grief they are feeling.

What occasion is not being respected tomorrow by cricket and all other sports being played?

Its nothing to do with respect, it down to an inept PL committee making a shite decision.
Nah respect for people in mourning isn't bullshit. It just isn't. I'll leave you guys to it though, I didn't think people would be so triggered over missing a days football.

It will be Monday. The plans were always for D+10 but that would be Sunday and they won’t do that. Interestingly, they think that, on the day, London will actually be ‘full’, for the first time.
I hope so, that would make a lot of sense.
The football community can then have a minute silence and show their appreciation to The Queen before her funeral.

I don’t agree with the cancellation of games but let’s not get all hyperbolic.

A bit of bad weather can get games called off and nobody loses their mind over that. We had a game called off against Mönchengladbach a few years ago that, by kick off time, would have been perfectly alright to play. It’s just one of those things, a rash decision has been made and it’s done now so sod it.

Millions of kids didn’t lose two years of their life, they weren’t all in a two year coma. All that happened is that they didn’t have to go to school for 23 weeks over a 60 week period and had to wash their hands more often. Lots of kids absolutely loved spending time with their family and it’s a time many families would never have got together otherwise.

I do agree that that the games should be going ahead and it would be good for the country for it to do so, but this time next month nobody is going to be arsed that games were called off in the sport across the country this weekend.
I disagree it’s hyperbolic. Kids couldn’t play football with their mates for months and months. It’s hugely important for their health and development.

You’re right bad weather could get games cancelled but this isn’t bad weather - it’s people deciding to stop other people enjoying themselves.

Why not cancel football for a whole month? It’s only a month after all, no big deal.
